QuoteIn my mind I see Clevon Little dressed as a hotel bell boy and can hear him saying "message for Mr. Mongo, message for Mr. Mongo" as he hands Alex Karass the exploding letter. ;D ;D

Anyone else remember that movie?

Guess I'm dating myself here.

QuoteThe whole problem really started when Dan admitted to shill bidding his bike up on eBay.  That pretty much turned the whole WERA board against him.

I think some people from over there are just trying to look out for other racers by "warning" others.

What is a shill bid?  I can't believe I just read all of this crap...somehow we got off the topic of Dan needing some nuts.   :-X

That wasn't a bash I'm just trying to be funny.  Merry Christmas everyone.  I still want to know what a Shill Bid is....

QuoteI still want to know what a Shill Bid is....
In conman's lingo, a shill is a plant.  He's working for the con, but the victim sees him as just another regular guy.  Shill bidding would be to pose as someone other than yourself, and then bid against honest bidders on an item that you yourself are selling, in order to drive the price up.  This would be immoral at least, and illegal at best.
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

That's kinda slimey Dan...

Shill bidding is the act of putting an item up for auction, then deliberately driving up the price by creating a second personal account by which you bid for your own item.  Most people work on a buddy system and bid on eachother's items to drive the price up.  Dan confessed to this after several board members concluded that the bidders "autoboltdan" and "Ducelectronics" were actually one in the same. Because many racers use ebay, a few racers were essentially "ticked".  This was one of many reasons why his presence was not welcomed on many BBS's, including WERA's.

However, in order to respect Dawn's board, you may visit the WERA site and conclude your own opinion.
I didn't come here to make friends... I brought my own

Alright, your just begging to hear my side of the story, and I could care less if you believe it or not.

Anyways, more or less, a few people were bumping up and also screwing up my auctions.  At one point, the user "autoboltdan" bid on a case of dild*'s, yes a full case, 24 of them.  The user was a friend playing a not so funny joke.  At one point, I listed one of my bikes, and the high bid was $40K +.  The purpose was to be an ass and spoil my auctions.  I had it coming, because I did it to him.  Both accounts were indeed registered in my name.  My account that I actually used, was ducelectronics.  If you know someone's name, address, ect. you can register an account under their name.  Shill bidding, or whatever, I don't care.  The goal wasn't to rip anyone off.  Furthermore, before you bid on ebay, you already know what your willing to spend.  Don't go over it, and you don't have to worry about people pumping the price up on you.  It's the internet people.  Ebay, PayPal, and all that crap are all scams.  50% of the crap is stolen, and 30% of the listings are fake or a fraud.  Think about it.

I'm done with this subject.  Don't bother to reply to my statement, because it doesn't matter to me.  And if anyone is wondering, yes I still have an ebay account.  Always have, registered in my name.
