I know the schedule in the mailer is "tentative", but not showing the Pacific region at all makes many of us believe it's not going to be there in 05. Can you confirm/deny this? I'm fine with getting dates later, but if its not going to be around I need to know that asap.

Would suck to have zero CA rounds.

Who was it that asked why I was not going to renew

If Pacific is no longer part of CCS and the Southwest schedule stays as it is then I will have no choice but to run WERA or AFM next year.  I can't put 6 and 12 hours of driving in from San Diego for 6 out of the 8 rounds  :-/  Firebird is nowhere near a good enough track to run most of the rounds there and give up Buttonwillow and Streets.  Arroyo Seco is 12 hours from the west coast!  If that is right then I think that CCS just lost California...I hope that WERA is going to compensate CCS for all of the business they are going to get.

I have never seen a race schedule for the SW that has NO California races on it.  I haven't heard anything yet about the Pacific region, but the suspicious absense of a schedule, nor any LP track days in Cali would make one think that here was in fact no Pacific schedule.  Maybe it is just as simple as they haven't made the schedule yet!  There was no mention of eliminating the Pacific region in the newsletter,  :-/

Here are some points to think about if there were no Pacific region for 2005:

What happens to the top ten expert Pacific racers and their earned number plate?  Catching and Buck spent a lot of money for races, and Catching chose not to run the SW only races, with the result of Buck winning the SW #1, and Catching winning the Pacific #1. It would be a shame if Catching couldn't use his #1 plate.  He definitely earned it.

I'm sure this can be researched, but it seemed to me that the Pacific only races had larger grids than the SW only races.  My thinking on that subject is they should have at least run Buttonwillow a couple of times.  It has been on the SW schedule for at least 7 years, and for some reason everyone always seems to be in a better mood there.  It is also my best track!  Streets of Willow was the worst as far as everyone's attitude.  I have witnessed many shouting matches between riders.  Maybe it is because of the skinny pass zones. :o

What happens to the nice crew they have for the Pacific races?  They seemed so laid back and positive that it would be a shame to lose them.  This is no knock on Randy and his crew.  They are very professional, and some of them are even funny, too! ;D

Last, and most importantly, with no races out there, how can I justify my renewel of my Magic Mountain annual pass?  My kids won't be happy! >:(

I for one am hoping that there is a Pacific region.

Folks.. this is just a 'tentative' schedule.

Simply pick up the phone and call CCS about the pacific schedule and if there is one. I'm sure they know if there even is gonna be one.

Hey, Negator (you can play the new monster in som Disney film with that name), I told you earlier in the year to just get the USCPRU one anyway since it they covers you for CCS, without having to backtrack to get the USGPRU license.

When I raced CCS SW there were no California dates. Firebird and Vegas only.  I stopped in 97...

I was almost wondering if this was coming.  Last year they lost Thunderhill.  This year they cancelled the last SOW, due to a disagreement with track management (remember Willow Springs owns WSMC...).  Doesn't suprise me if CCS could not get / did not want (depends who's side you're on) a date at either of these tracks.  Not that I'm saying there is no Pac region, just what I've been wondering...

What tracks are left in CA?

Fontana - WERA runs there already, probably pretty expensive and hard to schedule.

Buttonwillow - AFM runs there already, and from what I hear their grids there are much larger than CCS.

Sears Point - AFM runs there already, too far for AZ guys or a lot of SoCal guys.

Laguna Seca - Yeah, right, unless you're MotoGP

Pahrump - It's close to CA, but with current track managment there will never be a sanctioned motorcycle race there.  And there's no way everyone could fit in the "fueling area".

Reno - Again, close to CA, but not where anyone lives in CA.  Don't really know anything else about the track.

It sucks for the SoCal guys, now they're either gonna have to run WSMC or WERA. The NorCal guys already mostly run AFM anyway.  What will suck is that the Phoniex and Las Vegas races will lose some of the CA riders.

Oh well, at least I have no reason to drive 12 hours to Buttonwillow next year...

This clearly a Clear Channel decision (no pun intended.)
No profit, No region.

Why was Thunderhil lost by CCS?

If you had a choice between Firebird and Sears Point,
which would you choose?

I'll be doing AFM.
If I go to Vegas, it will be with WERA and the only time CCS will see me is on a USGPRU weekend.
