I doubt anyone is going to protest a slipper clutch when all the other illegal stuff in SS is getting through the crack..

Eric Kelcher

Yes you can run a slipper clutch in a bike that did not come in one whether it be from another model or an aftermarket piece.

The CCS rules are written as those we can enforce and know make a difference. By stating the things we will check it does not make you wonder if you can run a Power Commander or add-on tuner box, the rules do not prohibt it so it is allowed same with a Master Cylinder, 1/5 turn throttle or bodywork that is not an exact match to factory body work.

We run spot checks in the SS classes to verify various things are within the rules be it tires, air box mods, wheels, or easily checked visual inspections like street model, displacement (as displsyed on cases/cylinder). We can and do various forms of tear downs as needed to insure a level playing field within the rules.

Thanks Eric.  I always thought you couldn't add a slipper clutch to a bike that didn't come with one from the factory, but you could upgrade to a nicer model slipper as long as the bike had one originally.  I learn something every day.

I think he means you can run a different slipper clutch than the one that came in it.  Its hard to tell the way he typed it... but I believe his intent was to inform you that you can throw in a A/M slipper or a slipper from another model into a bike that already had a slipper in it from the factory.

I am pretty sure adding a slipper to, say, an 04R6 would make it illegal in supersport.

You might be right.  Doesn't really matter to me though.  My new bike is going to have a slipper in it, so I'm good.  :-)

pretty sure you can run a slipper clutch in any bike in any race with CCS

Yep, in WERA you can't add one if it didn't come with it but you can in CCS.  I can't imagine life without my STM...
