Peopel are just plain stupid. Leaving a friends house in Beloit tonight at 10pm it snowed a little. Roads were HORRIBLE. Snow over ice. Instead of taking the backroad home (which is the fastest way), I took teh main highway since if I did decide to park in a ditch, there would be someone coming along sooner or later unlike the back road where I might be walking 9 miles in snow and no cars pass. in the 10 miles on HWY 51 back to Janesville there were 10 cars in the ditch. Also had to detour around a section that the cops blocked off due to an apparent serious crash near a train viaduct. On teh road that we detoured on there were 3 4X4's all parked nice and neat in the ditch. Skid marks for each one. Each one looked like they high centered on the dirt berm and couldnt get traction. ::) I'm doing 40 max and I feel the rear end wiggling and losing traction every so often. Geesh people get a damn brain and slow teh f down when its slick. 4wd isnt magically going to keep you from losing control.

People are tards. ::)

One icy night on I80, my teammate Dave Vaughn proved to me that 4WD, ABS, and traction control CAN save you from anything if you're a skilled driver.  In the end, it's all about who's behind the wheel.

I still take the back roads.  That way I'm only driving for myself and not those around me.  I have a cell phone (off unless I need it) so if by chance I end up in the ditch I can call.

Remember the saying: "No brains..... No headaches."   ;D

we need consideralby more stringent driving tests...it's a priviledge not a right and there are far too many people who can't drive in perfect weather let alone when two snow flakes hit the tarmac...

People are just plain STUPID when it comes to driving on slick roads. I work for a township near my area, and one of the guys i work with had someone try to pass him when he was plowing with a big six wheeler, and freakin idiot hit the front of the plow. Some people just don't get it....slow the F down and pull your head outa your A$$!!

I'm a municipal worker too.  I've had people pass me when I'm plowing.  I've had people lose control TRYING to pass me when I'm plowing.  Idiots.

Opening round April of 2003....  

Ice storm warnings....  TV and radio saying "Stay in your homes.  Do not go out unless you absolutely have too."  Paul and I look at each other and say, "Who ever is out in this weather is either nuts or they absolutely have to go.  I guess that's us."

We're driving in the 25' motor home and pulling a 16 foot trailer.  Heading down Hwy 45, cars are going into the ditch left and right.  In one two mile stretch, we counted 10 cars in the ditch.  It was like the parting of the Red Sea in front of us.  By the time we go to Madison, we had over 3/4's of an inch of ice all over the motor home and trailer.  You should have seen the looks that we got travelling down 1-90/94   ;D

I was trying to sort my new ZX6 at the Friday test session in a freaking whiteout that day.  The snow was falling, but not sticking, and I was on rain tires.  I remember coming out of seven and getting disoriented by the millions of snowflakes rushing at me at high speed.  It was like looking into a 100+ MPH kaliedascope! :o

Then there was the trip to St. Louis in a blizzard in spring of 2001.  I broke out of the snow onto dry pavement 20 miles from the track.  I fell in my first practice when I hit some ice!  I was out until Wegman weekend with a severely bruised kidney that wouldn't let me tuck enough to ride!

And of course the 2000 Snowbowl at the Blackhawk opener.  We actually salted the track and drove our tow vehicles around until it was melted enough to race.  I got my first wood that day!  (5th of 6 stupid enough to have shown up, but who cares?  Wood is wood!)
