im interested in knowing the reason why FUSA schedules the races in the manner that is done. For example, Road America in April. its F#@$ing cold in Wisconsin in April. Anyone remember last year? Then there is Barber in August. I missed that one last year but from what im told, the weather was very non-typical for that time of year. im told its like being in Hell in August. Looking at the AMA schedule, you'll see Barber in April and Road America in August, like it should be. I know money is mostly the reason but look at the amount of entries FUSA gets compared to AMA. It's probably 3-5 times the amount of entries. Also, there are other weekends that are race free , so i cant imagine the tracks can't be booked on other dates.  Im not trying to cause any problems, i'm concerned, as a racer about all of our ass'. so someone please explain this to me.

I bet money is prolly all the reason.

Sure CCS/FUSA gets more entries than AMA, but AMA entries are 4x the cost and the track pays the AMA to come, not the other way around.

I race AMA FX and the entries are approx. $250.00. so, its just about 2x the amount. but look at the amount of entries and races on a FUSA/CCS weekend. i have no idea who pays for what with the AMA but we need to do something about racing in weather that is around 32 degrees in April and will inevitably be close to 100degrees in August @ Barber this year. again, you cant tell me they cant choose another date.

I'm sure the cost of renting Road America in April is much less than that in August.  CCS would have to dish out more $$ to get a better date, and CCS is exactly generous with our money.

Since the tracks pays the AMA to host an event, they are likely to give offer the best possible date for an event that they are paying in an effort to draw spectators which brings in money.  Also, at an AMA event there are more vendors so vendor fees bring in additional money, plus all people who camp out, etc.

But don't worry, complaining about it here won't change a thing.  I've yet to see a change in CCS/FUSA based upon any suggestion made in this forum.

Many tracks charge different rates depending on season. We charge less for Dec-Feb and July-Aug than the rest of the year because some smaller groups can't pay full rental and we can't give our good dates away at reduced rates when we can get some other group to pay full price. Supply and demand. So, most tracks have a bunch of different car groups wanting dates, as well as motorcycle trackday orgs that are willing to pay the premium for the best dates, and smaller groups end up with what's left of the schedule for reduced rates.

I had the notion it was all about the cost but it still seems a bit unreasonable to endanger the riders whether it be heat stroke or a cold track. i guess the bottom line is, we dont have to race if we dont want to. Though, playing devils advocate, there's also a saying that says "dont bite the hand that feeds you". we are the hand after all. Does'nt that stand for anything?

WebCrush

I would hardly consider poor weather to be a 'danger' to riders lives.

As for you 'hand' comment, we're barely a hand that feeds them.  I bet they barely break even from renting to CCS for a weekend.

You can come race with us in PHX in June.  Though it is nice we aren't racing Vegas in August as we did a couple years ago.

I have been racing CCS since 1991. We have always had a Road America date in April. The weather has ranged from highs of 30F to low 80F. CCS tried FormulaUSA in August, it didn't work out a couple years ago and was canceled. A couple years ago, Road America became the most expensive track that CCS rents (I know for a weekday trackday the rental is over $14,000). RA charges different for events if they draw spectators (I recall this being the problem with the August FUSA race).

BTW, the traditional date for AMA at Road America is the first weekend in June, not in August. This year it is June 3-5, I think you misread Road Atlanta.

no, we didn't miss the point.  you don't want to race in uncomfortable weather.  ok, fine. we get it.

problem is you're complaining to the wrong people.

we're also saying, complain all you like, its not going change anythign unless you personally plan on footing the bills yourself.
