Are you kidding me? Ice riding is just awesome. A whole bunch of people get together here in MN every sunday and go Ice riding. On January 1st, ther is a big get together that gets around 80+ people out at a lake nbearby just to have fun. It really teaches you how to slide and throttle control. I own a CRF450 and an XR100 which I stud up every winter. I personally think I like it more than Roadracing...

Here is a pic of my bikes:

And here is one of me and Gary Carter playing around:

Anybody that wants to come to MN and play, you are more than welcome to. Contact Me or Tommy Mason and we can let you know when we start riding. There are always plenty of bikes to ride.

Actually, they are tire wraps, to prevent the studs from getting dull!

Do those come in a size big enough to wrap around a person?   I know some people who could use some help to keep them from getting dull! ;D

Ice...

Not expensive.

Everything isn't destroyed when you fall.

You just put on all of your clothes.  Most comfortable when it's below 20 degrees.  When it gets above that, you start getting hot.

Yes...

If you had to give up everything and keep one thing...I think it would have to be riding on the ice.

If I could run the ice year round, I wouldn't road race.

Last year was my first taste of it, and I thought: "yeah right, this is too cold, these are dirt bikes, this is just gay".  Then I rode...

My first outing was on a Husky CR250 2stroke.  It was incredible.  After about 4 hours, I was hooked and began looking for a dirtbike to ice-ride.

The next weekend I ran a fully super-motard setup CRF-450.  Words cannot describe this experience.  The best description is that it felt EXACTLY like my 600 on hot tires & perfect pavement.  I pulled a friggin stoppie...  On ICE...  I was immediately convinced that the 4stroke was the way to go.  We left the lake and went back to the shop where I loaded up a new 04 CRF-450 which I've affectionately dubbed "bam-bam".

Here's the 450 that I was on that 2nd weekend:

Here's my 450 a few weeks later:

Anyone know where I can get a set of tyres made? I lost my contact info from the guy I met last year. I want the "good" tyres. Not just studs in my stock tyres.
I live by Wisconsin Dells and plan to race on the Wi river. www.swiraclub.com
Thanks

You might try doing a search. I know this was discussed last year about this time.

ok, you got my attention!!!!  How do I get started?  I have a stock a YZ125 and live in Chicago Suburbs...what do I need to do to the bike?  Where do I go to race?  Is this for fun or is this organized and expensive?
