I have a question......

Was anybody able to keep up with any of the factory riders, like staying right on their tail?

Or have I asked a dumb question? ???

Clay

I heard that there was one rider that did 27's with them...but that's what I just "heard".

As an observer,  just watching the group before any race started. Team Yamaha was soo fast, and soo smooth,  through the rollercoaster, you could tell it was one of them long before you could tell it was even blue. In the group I was standing with somebody would say look, and all was quiet till they were gone and then a chorus of Jeeesus from everbody till the next, look, then repeat. If anybody could hang with them, I didn't see them.

I didnt see anyone hanging with them...was watching
in turns 2-3 behind the food catering area...and the speed they carried through that area was just incredible! Watching them come down the front straight and blast through the "kink" and still have the bike leaned over heading into the breaking zone - it looked like they weren't breaking until they were INTO turn 1 -  was just awsome! If anyone was hanging with them it wasn't for long...

Last weekend at VIR was my first race.  I went to the school in June out in California.  I rode in 2 races on Sunday and did better than I expected. 22nd and 23rd on a basically stock 99 CBR600!  During the cool down lap after race 8 I went into turn 1 a little fast and low sided.  I ended up dislocating my elbow and breaking a little bone off it.  Not a real bad injury really, just a couple of months in a brace.  I really wanted to thank Jimmy CCS AM 16, Kyle CCS AM 61, and the rider and crew for CCS AM 778 for helping my wife pack up the trailer while I was in the hospital.  Jimmy and Kyle answered all my stupid newbie questions, and showed me the lines around the track on Friday.  I was amazed at how friendly everyone was, and I am looking forward next season.

Dude how did you crash on the cool down lap? The race was over! :-/

Yes, Hacking signed it and was a good sport about it. When I showed him the picture, he didn't think anything of it. Then I told him that it was me in front of him. He sort of grimaced, then smiled and signed. His wife thought it was funny. Might have been funnier if he hadn't gone around me like I was a traffic cone.

Hey - if you want to see the difference of the Yamaha guys and us mortals, go to the "picsofyou" web site and look at their lean angles in the same corners, they are so much further over. I was just about to pass someone going into T1, was going full boat 155 or whatever my 600 will do. Just as I was about to streak by the guy in front of me with a late brake, DiSalvo goes by about 25-30 mph faster. I almost rode into the back of the guy in front of my, by the time I collected myself, I was 1/2 through T1, coasting in a false neutral. DiSalvo was GONE.

hey ryan congrats on your championships. will see you more next year.

don't be so hard on him... one of the EX's almost ran off the kink after the race is over. he went straight instead of turning after crossing the line...

I don't think there is not one rider in this country who isn't a factory rider or a factory support rider who can do 27's. (I may be wrong)

but the fastest time of the weekend among the club guys are probably 32's (again I may be wrong) but Arron pitted during the GTO and still won by a very long margin.

The only one that was even close was Yonce (#258?)
He even kept up with them during the money race unitil turn 17  >:(.
But on a side note Aaron Gobert from Graves Yamaha has won the superstock championship this past weekend. (AMA Vir) I talked to one of their tech guys this weekend and thanked them for showing up at our event. He gave a lot of credit to the racing that they could do 2 wks. ago. He said that they really enjoyed themselves.
That says alot about our group we should all be proud. Who knows maybe the next rider for a team like that could be you? :)

Clay

That's what I figured Philly.  When I was at the Dunlop tent though, one of the guys who had came in 2nd in one of the races (blue R6, short, sideburns...not Trey) said he was doing 32's and the other guy was doing 27's keeping up with Gobert.  I could be wrong, as I was just listening in on the conversation waiting on my tires.  :P

Trey is an awsome rider IMO.  I think he should get some big sponsorships!!!!  To see a guy run like that when it's just him and his dad funding it...gives me hope.  ;D
