GSXR RACER MIKE

I was amazed at how many people were at BFR for a regional event, I heard something like 900+ entries for Sunday which broke some long standing record. The amount of racers already at the track when I went to registration on Friday was also very impressive, for Friday just being a practice day. I realize that the Wegman Auction happened this weekend also (and brought in a substantial amount of money by what Gordy said), but I believe this was more people than I have ever seen before at BFR. On top of all this the weather was absolutly perfect all weekend, what a great way to end the season's events at BFR! :)

It goes back to about 1993 or so.  There were a good number of us that raced at Blackhawk with some reasonable regularity.  So, when Honda money was up for grabs, it was literally like an AMA National at Blackhawk.  No big rigs like now.  If you had a tandem axle trailer, you were big time.  So, there was more room.

Nine-hundred-thirty-some-odd entries.  Teams stacked two-deep in the paddock along hot pit.  A traffic jam on the entry road that was two-wide ALL the way onto the STREET!  Twenty-three (six?) THOUSAND DOLLARS RAISED FOR THE WEGMAN!!!

And it was all gotten in, on time.

Everybody raise your left arm... reach your hand behind your shoulder and give yourselves a collective ATTABOY!

Once again, "summer camp" has been brought to a close.  Is it April yet????
CCS AM 815... or was that 158?

Yep, I was absolutely amazed at the turnout.  New track record as well!

Although, it was much like an AMA race... Dicing for the back pack :)

Personally ran my fastest BHF time ever this weekend, which felt good as well.  Still room for improvement, but it's coming.....

<removing my personal experiences as they seem to be taken wrong.>

Not for Great Plains. Matt Hall took it home. I missed the first Topeka and the Gateway rounds so I was out of the running. I think I took 5th or something like that.

For Midwest, I am in 1st, ahead of Mark Stiles on that one, but it's coming down to the Gingerman round.

BTW, the lap times this weekend were awfully fast. Ed Key turned a 1:14.2 on his SV. Lacy did a 14.35 as well. I was in the 16's getting my butt kicked all weekend. Last BHF weekend, 16's put you right in the middle of things, but not this time around.

Rob et al:

I was announcing that day and that is what I said. It was handed to me, written down, by our fearless leader Mr. Fehrman.

So sorry to miss the event. I was scheduled to announce at 'another event', but when that event got postponed, I found myself with a free weekend. I schedule all of my CCS / FUSA dates as soon as the schedule is released the preceding fall and I couldn't snag a last-minute deal for the Wegman. That wouldn't have been fair to the announcer that was already planned for that weekend and frankly, it would have cost them too much to fly me first class from Burbank at the last minute.

;)

So ... I went racing YSR's on Sat (didn't crash, beat at least one other guy, had fun, and got a third place finish in Formula One at Beaver Run (wicked-a$$ track)). I also went karting on Sunday at Thompson with CKRA. Though I've won with a Briggs Animal, I've never raced a 2-stroke can. Bonzai'd a hairpin on lap one and took out the #2 points guy. Rest assured - I felt dumber than I looked.

Looking forward to seeing all of you soon.

BTW - did anyone win a trip to Vegas?
