I've found my next vehicle.

The International 7300 CXT.

From their website:  http://www.internationaldelivers.com/site_layout/severe/cxt.asp

POSSIBLY TOO MUCH TRUCK. LIKE THAT'S A PROBLEM.

Your eyes don't deceive you. It's a pickup truck. From International. Which makes it much more than a pickup truck. It's an International®CXT – born out of the proven International 7300 severe service truck used by professionals for the most rugged applications.

So you get all the attributes of a commercial truck – but you don't need a commercial driver's license to drive it.*

The legendary International®DT 466 diesel engine provides up to 6 tons of hauling power.**The air-ride cab and seats provide an exceptionally smooth ride. And aspacious and well-appointed interior ensures automotive-like comfort and convenience.

The result of more than a century of leadership in the truck market, the International CXT delivers performance. In a big way

*State restrictions may apply. Talk to your local motor vehicle department.

I'll take mine with the HT-570 instead of the 466, though.  340hp and 1,150ft-lbs.  ;D

On a slightly more realistic note, I should be buying a motorhome tonight or tomorrow.  It's a 1979 Champion Class A.  25 feet for $2500, or $100 per foot!
The previous owners used it like a summer cottage.  they parked it at a campsite from spring to fall, and commuted in their car.  As a result, it's pretty worn inside, but only has 16,000 miles on the drivetrain.  The 440 Dodge motor just purrs, and the 727 tranny shifts sweet.  Every last thing on this motorhome is in working order.  I've been looking at used RVs for about five years, and this is the nicest $2500 unit I've ever seen.
With a bit of luck, the big bomber will be making her debut this weekend at the Wegman.
Screw it!  If I can't be fast, at least i can be comfortable! :D
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

Nah, I'd need a CDL for that.  Plus if I ever wanted to haul anything, I'd have to have a trailer.  Funk dat.

I'm gonna see if I can get a demo 7300 for the weekend.... ;D

OMG! I guess that's what you do if you just have too many buckets of money laying around one of your many waterfront houses.

OmniGLH

Good Lord what in the heck did they do to that Excursion?!

That thing looks somewhat similar to the Ford SuperCruiser and the GM Kodiak. What really sucks is that without a CDL in Illinois you can't exceed 26,000# Gross Combined Weight of truck and trailer and 10,000# Gross Weight of the trailer alone. Vehicles registered for over 8,000# in Illinois have to be safety inspected every 6 months, and any trailer registered for over 5000# must also be safety inspected every 6 months. Any vehicle or combination of vehicle and towed vehicle/trailer that weighs over 16,000# must stop at weigh stations in Illinois. I have been speaking with the Illinois State Police and the Secretary of State Police about these facts over the last week.

For those that think that 16,000# is excessive think about it this way, my Ford F-250 Crew Cab is 7500# with a full tank of gas and me in it (truck has a GVWR of #8800) which therefor requires me to get a 'D' license plate (8000# - 12,000#) to be legal for any towing what so ever. If you have a trailer that is 8000# when fully loaded, and your pulling it with the previously mentioned F-250, then your within a few hundred pounds of being 16,000#.

RV laws are very vague and I was not up to speed on their general requirements until this last week. I was going to put a living quarter in my next trailer so I could get an RV plate, but found out that an RV can't legally transport anything (like a motorcycle or car). This is why the toyhauler type trucks and trailers can't legally be driven in Illinois with RV plates. Though the weights that would normally require a CDL in Illinois don't apply to true RV's (trucks or trailers), you still have to have the vehicle inspected every 6 months and any driver must carry a medical card. So many laws that so many people are unaware of that can result in your vehicle being held until it is legal to drive (such as needing to be inspected).

Sorry for kinda going postal on that response, but after finding this stuff out I realized how lucky I have been not to have been pulled over! :o

I like the amphibious motorhome.  Perfect for when the Buxtons ot Team Stumpy need to go to Gingerman or Grattan.
I wonder what it would cost to insure a motorhome that can sail across open water?

Honey, I sank the motor coach.... :o
