The doctor does it again  ;D  Poor Sete... he's kinda like Zemke now.  SNIPED in the LAST LAP  8)  Rossi's god.   :D

racerxgirl

Zemke??!!! Did you not see the race today? Obviously not!  ::)
He earned it!

if they actually go by the rules it would be Mr. D winning the superbike race and not zemke.

remember they red flagged before everyone took the checker and it should go a lap back. Otherwise there is no way they can decide the finishing order, because half of the field took the checker and the other half didn't. so who finished infront of who? They have to refer back 1 lap.

did he pass under the waving yellow for the lead, anyway?

racerxgirl

Good point, your right...why did they not go a lap back?

Duhamel is Zemke's daddy. Just like Rossi is, well, everyone's daddy ;D

P.S. Even if the flag situation didn't come into play, the ONLY reason that Zemke won was that Duhamel screwed up, which was and wasn't his fault. If you watch the race again, note it is raining, again, when Duhamel and Zemke went into the last turn before the checkerd. Duhamel lost traction because it was wet, otherwise, it would've been like all the other races. Last turn, and Zemke gets a nice slap on the ass as Duhamel passes him. Also, look at the entire race. Zemke looks like he's fighting the bike, and Duhamel is just stalking him right on his rear tire, putting on pressure, to wear him out. Then, the last lap pass.

God I love racing.... 8)

I guess in the AMA officals mind that because the 1st place rider has taken the checkered flag, the race should be final. However there are more riders than just the 1st place, and the race cannot be complete until everyone takes checkered... Maybe there is a gray area in the rulebook that does not cover the event a red flag is thrown after the leader takes the checkered flag.

They can't keep the finishing result for the leaders who has already crossed start/finish and revert back a lap for everyone else? so it is sensible to go back a lap.

Even the results posted now are still "provisional", but I really would like to know how did AMA figure out the finishing order since half of the racers did not race to the finish.

it seems messy, maybe there are reverting back a lap for everyone who DIDNT take the flag.

someone is going to protest and this is not final yet... I wonder has this ever happened in a CCS race?

this should probably be addressed in the rulebook. I can't see a clear ruling in the CCS rulebook either.

Eric Kelcher

It is addressed in FUSA/CCS rulebook and actually did happen this weekned at VIR scoring reverts back to the last complete lap.

CCS rule books states if a race is more than 80% over it reverts back one back. That is very clear. But I would like to see it states when is the race count as complete, the last rider in the running order crosses the flag? or when the leader crosses the flag?

it happened in the superbike race?

Back to the original post, what a risk thought for Rossi to wait until the last lap to make "one" move and just be sure he could make it stick.

He is AWESOME!!! Of course there are still going to be poeple that say it isn't him even if he wins it on a Yamaha. I know people that say it is just Burgess now. So let's see he eliminated the Honda, so if he wins it this year, maybe he'll go to ProtonKR and not take Burgess with him just to prove HE IS THE MAN! LMAO.

It really wasn't a risk.  Rossi was just playing with him.  He could've passed him at any time.  That's what makes Rossi god.  He can just turn it on and off.  Whenever he needs to, he turns it on, but won't go any faster than he has to for the 1st place finish.  Just imagine if he went "balls out" for an entire race.  I wonder if he'd lap the 2nd place rider? :P He only goes as fast as he needs to win the race, and nothing more.  8)

Kinda like last year at Phillip Island. He was docked 10 seconds so he gapped 2nd place by 11! ;D

That was AWESOME I think he ended up with a bigger gap on 2nd place even with the 10 second penalty than he had when they made him aware of it.

Although that Honda appeared to be gapping him pretty good down the front straight. Trust me though the man is THE MAN in my book. Although I have to admit this race wasn't nearly as fun to watch as the previous one.
