I know it will effect ours.  What are your thoughts.

At the current rate, I may start using Vp's U4 in my truck cuz its cheaper... :P

Gas prices are still nickle and dime, over all we are only talking a small fraction of what it takes to make one weekend.. even for me, a shoe string racer.

If I understand your post correctly, your saying that the gas it takes to get to the track is only a small portion of the race weekend budget.  Well that may be true, but for us - and for the Stumpy crew especially - none of the tracks are exactly close.  At $2.50 a gallon (if it gets to that point) it would be approximately $125.00 for us just to get to BHF and back.  Plus the price of race gas is going to go up too.

Everything is rising due to the increased fuel costs.  Racing is fun, but we may be doing less of it this year.

So I take it that next time you offer to let me sleep in the motorpalace, I should be carrying ten gallons of unleaded when I walk through the door? ::)
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

Based off of your post, you are saying it would take 50 gallons of gas to make it to Black Hawk.

If the going rate for gas is 2.50, it would cost you 125.00 to make the trip.
If the going rate of gas is 1.75,  You would spend 87.5 to make the trip.

The added cost of a .75 hike in gas prices is 37.50
I just don't think the additional cost in that much when you look at what it takes to run two races and buy one set of tires.

True....

...but for the goods you purchase, shipping is part of the purchase price.  The gas to get to Blackhawk is just one component.  I'm sure that the tire vendors, parts distributors, and fuel distributors will be raising their prices simply because their costs are going up too.  I'm already seeing it at the grocery store and the vending machines at work  ::).

After filling up my car and the motorhome, writing out the check and seeing the big divit it left in my account, it kinda hit me what a snowball effect higher gas prices will be.  Currently the cost for a barrel of oil is $40.00; when gas prices were > $1.75 it was $30.00 a barrel, some indicators show that the cost for a barrel of oil could be $50.00 by Memorial day.

We'll still go to BHF, but tracks that are farther away maybe not.  We can have just as much fun packing up the dirt bikes, hitting the trails in WI.

Guys...  When your wife asks for more money for the grocery budget, take her word for it.  It's just more expensive.

Here in our area ( Norther VA, DC, MD, WV) gas hikes are the norm. I just go to the cheepest place. Down the street in DC its 2.25, home in MD its 2.05. But each place station is diff. We go to the off brands in WV and in MD and pay 1.98 to 2.05.  Economies of scale is diff for each person.

Jeff

Nope, won't affect me one bit.  They keep a raisin', I keep a payin'.

I did start running VP U4 though since premium was +$2.25/gal...

Oh, BTW, if you DO run pump gas, check with your state.  Most states have a form for tax refunds on all fuel purchases which are for off-road uses.
