Will gas prices effect your travel plans?

It hasnt affected my travel plans, but I am looking into getting a commuter car to drive to work.  Putting $75 into the truck every week is getting old.

Won't affect me either. Of course since I have to work on many race weekends, I don't really have much choice.

I commute by bike (70 miles round trip), have done so regularly since about 1982. Saves about $3.50 per day even though the price of diesel is much lower than premium gas. I ride about 180 to 200 days per year. Insurance is less than $200 per year (1997 BMW R1100RT). Maybe people will put more thought into their next vehicle purchase.

People should not have expected the price of gas to stay low forever. It was $1.25 for regular when I started driving in 1979. Corrected for inflation, gas prices (regular) would have to reach something like $2.80 to be the same as prices in 1981.

They're not reaping any benefits from the prices being so high, believe me.  Imagine them ordering 5 transport loads at a time and how much more that costs them.  Kinda scary sometimes...

It's at least nice to get my stuff at cost though.   ;D

Rising gas prices?

Bah.  I have a diesel.  $1.78/gal at the T/A in Marengo ;D... premium at the Mobil down the street from me?  $2.35.

Quoteit would be approximately $125.00 for us just to get to BHF and back.

I was going to the Cali races with a Toyhauler being towed by an Expedition.  The Expo was getting 5-6 MPG.  We would stop and fill up every 130-150 miles.  Each fill up was at least $30.00.  That was at the prices from last year.  A trip to Streets of Willow was somewhere around 700-800 miles roundtrip.  You do the math....my head hurts and I'm getting depressed.

This year, I have a brand new Superduty Diesel! ;D

Now our diesel fuel prices are hovering around the $2.00/gal. mark.  Fortunately, I get about 10-12 MPG with the Superduty, but that only HELPS offset the cost of the trip.

I need a fuel sponsor, but not for my bike. :-/ :( >:(

Ok, yeah, the gas and fuel prices are making things rough.

But follow everything through...

My wife went grocery shopping last week and milk was like $3.30 a gallon.  That's incredible!

The trailers that I sell have went up again in cost.  Each thing that gets shipped anywhere, milk, Twinkies, CocoPuffs, cheese, meat, people...well, just about everything, gets there by freight by plane or truck...using diesel fuel or something similar...JP4, jet fuel, etc...  Those prices are way up too in a market that usually has very consistent pricing.

So, your trip might not cost that much more, so to speak, but everything else still costs more too.  Does that help the economy for anyone?  If you've got to make a choice between buying gas to go racing or to buy food for the kids, well, you need to buy food.

It's only time before we'll see entry fees go up next for 2005 because the cost of getting CCS staff and cost of goods have gone up.

With the price of diesel lower than it was this winter, I'm pretty happy

WHHAAAAAT? Diesel cheaper than it was this winter? Where are you? Our Diesel is 1.80 a gallon- it was a buck fifty most of the winter. I actually figured out fuel expense for doin Topeka-$200 before signing up for a single race!!! A conservative estimate I heard put the extra fuel costs to Americans across the country at $42 Billion if prices stay where they are for the next 6 months. When it costs $12 to top off a street bike you know we're in trouble.
