Tristan what about Jimmy?  I would like to see what he could do to Firebird East.  Too bad you are not coming out, I was going to invite you to a nice MTB ride on Saturday to help level the field for Sunday ;D It is way hot here- too hot for Mountain Bikes!!

So I am going to assume there is definetly a trackday on saturday...however, are racers able to sign up for it also? Or are we just only allowed to do the practices in our group and thats it?
I have a few people that might want to come out and do the trackday..non-racers that is...and they would like more info, cost, how many sessions, what time they start, etc...etc...

DAMN! That's a bummer about Simon. I'll shoot him an email.

Yea... 1:03's are a big improvement. It seemed like I was stuck around 1:05 and 06's. I'd really like to see :02's this go around. But I wouldn't mind some hardware either.

Kim, racers can enter the LPUSA track day with an extra bit of coin I am pretty sure- Have Jon call Heidi to be sure.  For the non racers, have them at the gate at 7am, at registration by 710am then to tech by 730am and we will try to have them on the track as soon as possible (kinda like Friday at Vegas but without the delay, sidecars and no sleep!).  I have checked for the scedule on the website and cannot find it.  In fact I can't find it for any race this year- past or present.  Some one tell me where it should be.  As far as folks who have to plan their whole Sunday opn Wednesday two weeks prior on ly to have it changed Sunday at 1130 because they had to get new tires or something- remember the fastest guys there have the same thing to deal with and find a way around okay- watch them :o

Completely forgot about JDub. I went to Streets with him today and he was like a fly on s**t behind me! Going way to fast for an amateur, all you amateurs should protest and make him go expert.

I talked with him a little after the races at Streets. Sounded like he was hoping to be bumped up by Firebird. Also sounded like Leonard was against it  :P but we'll see what happens. He's definitely too fast for amateur status. It's good to see good things happening to a good kid.

I talked to Leonard and Jimmy about this shortly at Vegas, and I think he should finish the year as a amateur.  Surely guys like him are rare, but all racers need to get 'race' experience.  It is not all about turning a few (or a lot) quick lap times.  Things like tire conservation, fuel use, how to ride abike that the setup has gone off wihtout pitching it are just a few things he can learn.  Also, the experts he passes now on integrated fields see the yellow plate and will not pressure him or just let him by.  Experts are ruthless when there is serious racing going on.  Also, I was impressed a couple of years ago ( and so was the media) when Kane Lasky, another ultra fast SW amatuer, went to the ROC and whooped ass, finishing at expert times.  If he was an expert that weekend, he would have finished 5th or 6th and been an 'also ran' in the news.  I think a young kid like Jimmy could do wellwith some press and will generate more interest from potential sponsors this way.  He is a real nice kid with special talents- I hopeto see him do well, as does Leonard.
So even though I want to see Jimmy racing with the experts for announcing purposes only (my voice woild really suffer then!) I think he should wait.

Oh yeah, Randy has been in contact with Kevin Elliot about the schedule.  When we have or it is posted on the site, I will let you all know.  It may be a day or two as I am going mountain bike racing for a couplle of days.

He has been a professional flat tracker for some time now for experience. For amateurs, you don't really get any sponsors unless you really know how to work it. All I know is maybe I do hope he stays amateur so he doesn't go and beat me! ;D

I totally see where you are coming from with this, but it doesn't make much since considering the fact that we run combined races and in all his races he's been up front with the experts. The color of his plate does not matter for the actual race because he's finishing top 5 overall consistently. The only change making him an expert would have is a better start (not that needs that!!! hole shot artist). So, I don't think your points are valid. The only thing keeping him as an amateur does is hand him the amateur title which he really is too good to be considered an amateur. Finishing above so many experts should tell us something.

As for experts not caring they're getting passed by a yellow plater....BS. That makes experts (granted, maybe not the "level headed" ones) take drastic measures for pride. I beat a particular expert in a close race 2 race weekends ago and since then have honestly had to deal with him riding stupid to hold me back...including punting me mid turn. FAG.

I'm not whining...I could care less about the overall points finishing. I think the overall point system is bogus anyways because it doesn't account for race entries or performance index. I think Jimmy's a great rider and a great kid. I just think it's unfair to the other amateurs in his classes (I'm not one of them) who have no chance of competing with him.

I do agree that it would be good for him to get publicity at the ROC though, so that's a tough call. Losers will always complain if there's something to complain about, so maybe that also says something.

Roost, at our next event see me and fill me in about this expert rider.  I have and idea who, but I would like to speak with you about it confidentially.  If you need to find me, just find the guy annoying you on the PA allweekend, and you will find me! ;D

As far as the top five experts, they will justlet a guy like Jimmy by because they know it is not worth falling down or risk being taken out by someone not in thier class and they are usually to busy racing agaist the other four.  Jimmy is free to make his own decision.  I have seen it go both ways and have seen the results of both. As far as he being to fast for the amatuer class, it is not his fault he has a load of natural talent and it is not fair for other amatuer riders to bad mouth him for it (I have heard this stuff-total crap).  If you, I or someone else does not have this natural talent- we should be adult enough to admit it.  I certainly have long ago. Don't forget to get with me at Firebird, thanks-Cory
