Everyone should write to SPEED TV

Hey guys,

I don't know about you  - but I have been thoroughly impressed with SpeedTV's coverage of Daytona.  Good pre-race and post-race stuff - and heck, on Thursday, we even got to see a solid half-hour of qualifying!  They dedicated QUITE a few hours to Daytona and the AMA ths weekend - I think, given all the BAD fanmail they got when they announced they were covering more NASCAR, that we should probably write them and say THANK YOU!

I've actually noticed an improvement in their lineup over the last few weeks - to the point where I have started to include SPEED in my "rotation" again.  They have a few new "tuner" shows on now, some other cool stuff - it SEEMS like some of the NASCRAP has died off a little.  Hopefully this is a sign of more balanced programming to come.  AMA, MotoGP, F1, Rally, SCCA.....

I left them a few paragraphs in their little feedback forum on their website - www.speedtv.com.

The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

I sent a thank you to SPEED today for televising motorcycle racing from Daytona.

Jeff

I was one to write them a good bit of hatemail last year, over the 1950's car programming which replaced the rained out 200, and I turned that around this year and let them know they did good...

I liked the fact that they had coverage....

But I really don't find watching a Superbike on the banking very cool at all.  I want shots that follow the bike coming into the corner, through the corner, and out.  Too many times, they pan back and you don't see the rider moving their foot for a gear change, or the rear tire spinning.

Too many camera men that do US car racing.

Watch MotoGP or WSB with European cameraman, and recognize the difference.

And there were certainly more than six guys in the race again.  Why don't we see that there are actually others in the race?  We had coverage of a crappy motorcycle endurance race.  I certainly wouldn't want anyone outside of the motorcycle industry thinking that that's how a motorcycle road race is...boring.

I must admit I enjoyed the Supersport races much more than the 200, but I still sent my letter of thanks because I enjoyed the coverage that was provided.

I agree with you on the camera work and directing... they definitely have room to grow.  Positive suggestions like you have to improve coverage would probably be appreciated by SPEED.

I've posted my ideas before to speed...

Road Racing World has posted my comments before also...

Usually falls on deaf ears.

ok,  maybee im in the minority here,   I didnt get to see the qualifying or the fx race or superstock, cause i gotta work and didnt tape it.

But, i thought the filming of the 200 sucked ass,   they only showed the top 5, if that ??  WTF there was 37 riders in that race  what happened to the 17 guys that dropped out ??

WTF is with the commercials every 10 minutes.

WTF is with the announcers getting shit wrong a few times.

Am i the only one that noticed that they showed the comercials for BARBER's race for LAST YEAR!!!!!!!  With the Grand Opening of the Museum. !!!  They showed this twice !!!

AND WTF IS WITH SPEED !!!! ARE THE FING COMUNISTS!!    THEY HAVE FRIGGEN DAVE DESPUD BABBLING THROUGH THE NATIONAL ANTHEM !!  AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT WAS OFFENDED BY THIS !!!

Everyone bitched at Maladin last year for that, but WTF IT WAS GREG WHITE FROM SPEED THAT WAS INTERVIEWING HIM DURING THE ANTHEM !!!!

FOX SPORTS who now owns speed since last year, really needs to get control !!!

With like 20 minutes left for live coverage !!  Atleast they gave some TV time to the #4  Privateer !!!  I gues who cares about the rest of the top 5  or omg  let me suggest the top 10 !!

Once again, its AMA who is dictating this shit!!!

Well, poor camera angles and poor backmarker coverage aside - it IS a step in the right direction.
