Brian, it was a pretty good weekend.  We got some rain on Sunday but the 'big' races were all pretty much dry races.

The new kids on the block kicked butt.  Tristin S really showed he can step up to the plate.  On Saturday his lap times were in the 1:02s I believe.  By the end of Sunday he was (I think) close to 1:00 flat and won the Unlimited GP race.  Not only was he lapping quickly but he raced really smart as far as race strategy and using lappers to his advantage.  Nicky Moore was also really fast and there was another teenager too, don't know his name . . . they were all in the 1:00 flat bracket and all on 600s!

David Sanders was fast on his 1000 and got 2nd in Unlimited GP.

For amateurs, I won the GTO and Unlimited GP race.  I did a 1:02.05 for a fast lap.  There's a new kid named Jimmy Moore on an 03 R6 that got down to mid 1:02s . . . not bad for an amatuer on a 600.  I think he's raced dirt track up until this point.

The local Phoenix gang kind of got spanked.  Hartlieb is down about 25 hp from the new 600s . . . his bike is on it's last leg so he wasn't competitive.  Ledesma had a new 600RR out and finished 4th in the 1st middleweight race behind all the young guns and wrecked out of the 2nd when he was in 2nd.  Chad Rolland was probably the fastest local out there on his new 03 R6.

Hey Matt: You racing now?  ;)

Congrats to Tristian. :o Way to step up to the plate and take it to the next level. I will be racing vicariously through all ya this year.

Hey Brian, the weekend was great.  The banquet went off great too.  There was a lot of great speeches and I got a little misty when young Scott Jackson and Tristan accepted their awards (so did they- pretty neat)  Brian Long had to have his awards carted out on a luggage cart from the hotel, literally!  The races- bmg pretty much summed it up- but I gotta say that this was the some of the most exciting racing I have announced in a long time.  I was pooped by the end of the day and am sipping honey tea as I type.  The "kids are alright" is a good way to say it.  I talked to Ledesma and he says he will have to go back to the drawing board to find a way to keep the youngsters behind him.  Even some of the lightweight races had good battles.  You missed a good one- but I can't wait for Vegas- you should show up for that one.

I'd like to pass some Congrats around:
To Tristan and Will, Tristian rode an excellent race for his first Expert Unlimited GP. BTW, how did that new PC quick-shifter end up working for you guys?

To the other young guns out there, man you were fast! It was awesome to watch.

And to my teammates Matt and Phil for kicking butt in the Am Unlim GP. Good post race interviews, too!

later guys,

MZGirl

Wow!  AZAdrenalineZone will be filming at Arroyo Seco too?  That would be cool!

Wonder if they would be able to send the tapes down here and play them on Tucson public access cable too.  I may have to e-mail them and ask.  If not, it will be streaming video for me.

Did they tape just EX UL GP, or AM too?  Cause my husband crashed pretty hard core in the AM, and I missed it.

Is Zac alright??

How did it happen??

I found out that my thumb is dislocated and there's this chip??  I don't know what they are going to do with it yet.  Not 'til Wednesday.

Send Zac our best wishes.

That would be Scott Jackson.  Looking forward to watching them on TV in a few months.  These kids are going places...fast.

You calling me a sandbagger Simon?  It's not like I petitioned to stay an amateur . . . just playing by CCS rules my friend.  What am I supposed to do?  Beg them again to be an expert?  That's just throwing money away.  When they bump me I'll gladly play with the youngsters . . . if I can catch them.

So are you going to be out at Streets?  Signing up for the GTO race?  Hope so! :P
