Super Dave

Who can help?

People have scanners that have all the race traffic on it.

How do I go about getting one for Xmas?

Help?  Radio Shack?

Radio shack ones should do fine. You shouldnt need a high end one. Do you plan on using it for anything else? Eavesdropping on the local PD, etc?

If not, If someone can let you know about what frequencies race control is at different tracks, you should be able to find one that covers that, and ask for it. :-)

Now Dave, have you been a good boy this year?

You know Santa has been watching.

Super Dave

LOL!  I'm always bad.... ;D

I guess it's the frequency that I want to make sure that I know I will have.

Just want it for the race track, Nate.  They just seem to make things just a bit easier if you're ahead of the announcements.

My scanner and Stumpy's dad's scanner came from Walmart.  I just had to get a new one as I managed to lose my first one at the last Blackhawk.  I have frequencies, too.

How much?

Specific scanner for specific frequencies or are they common?
Super Dave

StumpysWife

I don't know much about frequencies but BHF 152.325 so you have to be able to put that many numbers in.  RA is 464.525.

I can't remember if it was $75 or $100.   I think they have a decent one--exactly like the one I lost for around $75 at Walmart in the automotive section.

Thanks, Heather....

That helps a lot.

You shoveling snow?
Super Dave

StumpysWife

Oh, It's a Uniden, too.

Heh, There's snow, but not too much yet.  Some ice on the inland lakes, though.  Let's just say Stumpy got the snowblower out and tuned up last week.   :-/

I used to work at Radio Shack, the house-label scanners they sell are Uniden.  Radio Shack has never been known for low prices so I'd shop around.  The most important thing is to know what frequency range you need.   Radio Shack used to sell a book of the frequencies for police, fire, etc...  it may include race tracks but I don't remember.

Hi Dave!  Any programmable scanner will work.  Range isn't that important either, because you never leave the track property.  Cheaper is better!
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"
