What Chris said.  I personally like the Uniden bearcat series.  Wally World has great one for right at $80.

I bought mine on ebay for $70.  It is a Uniden BC-60xlt-1.  Came with nice enclosed headphones with individual volume controls on each ear, an AC adapter so you don't have to always burn batteries and a little Tide Racing bag to carry everything.

I havnt' had any problems picking up the correct frequencies at any track.

I checked out Radio Shack and the units they have are quite a bit more expensive.  I also noticed after the fact that Wal-Mart's prices are about the best around if you prefer not to go the ebay route.

Here's the link to the one I bought.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

P.S.  I just checked to see if the guy I bought mine from had any current listings....  found this one:

Same as the one I bought and now he's selling them for $65 with the same extras I got.

I love having a scanner at the track. It's great to know what's going on out there.

Here is the freq for Summit, 461.1375 Mhz.

Does anyone have the freq for VIR? I can never find it while at the track.
