Gateway info?

Whats the gate fee? How much to camp? Allowed to camp? Security problems?

There is no camping fee.

Gate passes are the same price as elsewhere, however the guard does not sell them at the gate.

When we were there, we had no problems with security, however due to our 'mature' age, they probably thought they had nothing to worry about. ;D

BTW, there really isn't any grass to camp on. You'll have to set the tent up (assuming that is what you're using) on the asphalt.

Does anyone know of a good campground located near Gateway? You know, with grass and a fire pit, etc? Camping just isn't camping if you can't have a fire...

There is a huge pit just across the track from Gateway! I don't think they would be too happy with you if you started a fire in there though. ;)

I don't know of any places real close by. I'm sure you could probably find something on the IL side that wouldn't be more than 20 minutes away.

Well Kim wont be at Gingerman but will be at gateway. Sicne its a double point weekend, I cant let her beat me in points in HWSS now can I? ;D

OK, anybody know anything about Horseshoe Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area (located off Highway 111 in Madison County)? Looks nice, not too far away from the track and has campgrounds. Any locals been there?
