I have never been told anything of that sort from a CCS official and Kevin has sat next to me as I looked at some of the crash shots I got. Who was it?

how about if I buy the pictures from you, then give it to RRW, would that be ok?

They certainly cannot stop you from selling pictures to individuals, that would be why you were there in the first place. Then They can't stop the paying customer from distributing the pictures.

Bottom line, they have no legal right to tell you what to do with the pictures unless you signed a prior written contract stating the purpose of the pictures. They can't just show up and tell you somethings, it would have to be disclosed before hand.

And as long as you don't give the pics to RRW yourself, then any copy right liability is not on your end.

Sounds illegal to me that CCS tell you that you can't release the pics. and to threaten to ban you is even more illegal. That would be "blackmail" and "distortion"

rumor has it that someone bought a CD before ccs told her not to sell them !!!

Speak up who has it !!

I like shooting CCS events and I don't want to get banned and I don't want to get sued.  I didn't sign a form when I went it (no one asked me to) and I'm not sure of the legal aspects of it but it's really not worth it to me.  After speaking with my assistants I learned that  2 CD's were sold before I was told not to sell or distribute...I have a feeling they are going to come back and bite me in the butt!  :)  I'm not sure who the customers were but I have a feeling the pics will show up eventually...

I can't type, it should have said, one of my assistants....

I still think it's BS.  What I don't understand is...

1)  On what grounds can CCS sue you?

2)  How would releasing these photos make CCS any more liable?

I think just about everybody knows what happened... somebody runs out of gas, some stuff happens, Ike comes up at his usual FLYIN' pace  ;) and the rest is history...

I understand completely why YOU aren't *willing* to release them.  They CAN ban you from CCS events - it's their organization, they can do what they want.  I just don't see how they can threaten legal action.

Disappointing, considering I've always found that if you crash, getting photos of it tends to ease the pain a bit!

(PS - I will be in touch with you.. I want my pics.. get 'em sorted yet?!?!)  Green Suzuki Am#721...

I dont even see how they can ban you from their event because it is supposed to be a public event, not a private event. And to ban someone you have to have some legal ground to stand on, or they can't single you out.

Just the very action of them telling you not releasing the pics and threaten to sue, raises question that there may be some stuff that they don't want be liable of. Grounds for someone to sue them and get the actual truth behind the story. We crash all the time, get hurt all the time, and die some of the time, what is so unusual and different about this one? Are we not supposed to be discussing it either? Something is very wrong here, or they are trying to make it seem that way.

Oh crap.  Jack, I forgot to inform you. I will require all of my pics at no cost in order for you to continue taking photos for NESBA.  LOL :) ;D

Hey wait, you already get all your pics at no cost.  ;D :P I just forgot to tell you!  ;D

Unless the photographers have to sign something before taking pics, I think that CCS threatening litigation is complete B.S.  In fact, it's downright ridiculous.  All the photographers are doing is documenting events.  You're not there to harm CCS.  If they sued, they'd lose (and probably set them selves up for a counter-suit).   ::)

I guess I was supposed to sign something but I just started shooting CCS again.  They told me after the fact....And again, I have no idea on the legal aspects, I've never had this be an issue before.  I've emailed them again and I'm still waiting on a response.
