What's up with CCS?  Why do we always have to complain about the posting of points?  Some regions have very timely posting, yet others do not.  What is really going on?  This more than cries out "Help me", yet no one at CCS has ever requested it.  Why not?  I know the employees of CCS are busy, but how long does it take to post results the day after an event, compared to trying to post a half dozen or more two months after an event.

I am not going to mention anything about sponsors and the like, we all have them, but when we follow other motorsports event, the fans/spectators and the participants get up to the minute results of overall results.  Why does that ability ellude us here in CCS?  At the track it would see quite easy to not only post the race results for that day, but also the overall class points.  I think it would add to the ambiance of the paddock.  People could talk about how close the championship is while they are packing up.  Spectators and our favorite Mid-West color-man could give us lap-by-lap updates of the championship battles.

Who can do this?  I'm sure plenty of us could.

How can we get it done?  CCS? Racers and Organizational Board.

Apparently there was a LOT of confusion and problems relative to the scoring of the last Blackhawk weekend.  They might not have gotten everything sorted out yet.
CCS AM 815... or was that 158?

I've offered to help and so have others. What's the point? ???

The class points updated as of 05/30/03 are correct for the MW, GP, and GL.  I have checked them for the following classes:  LWSS, LWSB, and Thunderbike.  I have not checked the overall point standings because we don't race in enough classes to even worry about it.

I hope this helps.

The results from Saturday at Black Hawk were all taken care of Sunday morning and reposted at the track Sunday mid-morning.  Sunday after the event all the paperwork gets sent back to Texas where they go through and upload everything into their computers.  They calculate the points and send them on to the Clear Channel office in Chicago and they are the ones that update the points on-line.  I am not sure who is in charge in Chicago of getting them posted, but CCS down in Texas has the points to them within the week.  Hope this helps.

I sent them a note about their 5/30/03 posting of Great Plains not being correct.  I have full faith CCS will correct them in a timely manner  :)

My comments were not trying to make a statement about the correctness of the results, just the routine of posting updates.

The entire process screams, "This can be done easier and many times faster."

BTW the current MW, GP and GL overall class points are not up to date for the dates they have listed.  The GL points have a 5/19 date, but only show the points for first two rounds, when by 5/19, there were 3 rounds.  The MW and GP points are not up to date either, they don't include the last BHF event.

Basically the date they post with the results should mean more than just the date the results were posted.  They should represent "as of the last race event on ..."  This will remove the confusion.

BTW II - are they transcribing computer data into hardcopies, then back into computer data.  If so, why?  There is a smarter solution.

I guess I am just venting, because I don't want to drive to Heartland Park if I am only going to battling for 5 or lower in the championship with no way of advancing my position.  Because at that point, I'll just be coming to the races to have fun and try to win a race for mere personal enjoyment, not so I can boast about being a AM Champion, which was my original goal before I experienced all of my bike and mental impediments.

I don't mean to make light of other racers efforts, but if I am not chasing points, there's no reason to spend all my money racing every round.  I'll just make the rounds I can afford to make both monetarily and physically.

The moral of this story is keep your competitors morale up and wanting to participate in every event, no matter where it is.

Sean:

I have made an Excel file to record the points on my own.  I can forward it to you.  All the dates are in there and the double point events are highlighted.

I can understand your frustration, however let me share this with you.  We are only 6 events into the MW schedule and another 9 to go, for the GP region you have 5 events down, 8 to go.  It is too soon to say your season is over for a championship.  A person in the top five currently may run out of money, get frustrated, blow an engine, get injured (I hope not), or who knows.  Go to all the races you can and see how it ends up, you may be surprised!

Southeast class points have still not been updated yet either says 5/15/03 .... a month?...maybe CCS needs to see if one person from each region wants to take it over and fore the time spent give them one free enrty per race day and let them keep up with the class points for that region... i mean a few days is one thing but a month is another... othe org's have points posted by monday or tuesday after the weekend...and i have heard it is because CCS has more regions...well unless i can't count...and i'm not ruling that out ;D there are 11 regions in CCS...and that is including all events even CRMA and F-USA well WERA also has 11 regions...including the endurance....CCS has a total of 113 race weekends for all regions..WERA has total 115 race weekends sooo....i ask...why is it that WERA can get the points and results up in a few days when it takes CCS weeks up to months?.. and i never thought about it like this till now so this is a serious question...

Hey I agree with you man it isn't that hard, right now to keep on top of things I get the results at the track and come home and figure it out myself, that is the only way I know where I'm at.
Craig
ps that and everybody tells me where to go

All,

Thank you for your responses but I know I can track it myself, that's infact what I do.  However, if CCS's results aren't final when I choose to leave the track, or there is a discrepancy in the tallies, it could be months before you can do anything about it.  Besides the only number that counts is their number.

I also can't assume some else is going to have problems, because there's no guarantee that I won't as well.  Realistically, club racing is always budget strapped, where there is no assurance that all of the complection of the field won't be different from round to round.  I mean my plan is to race in the GL, but if I am doing better in the MW or GP, I may want to change my plans appropriately.  In that case, now I have to track not only my progress in those regions, but my various competitors as well.  The potential for error on my part makes me not want to rely on my figures.

This matter is too trivial to waste anymore time talking about it.  CCS, please do the job that we are paying our licensing and entry fees for.
