has this been talked about on here at all?  Does anyone like the format of practicing on Saturday and running a gt race and sprints on Sunday? I think it sucks, so I only run a few sprint races on Sunday.

Not enough time to dial in your race pace set up with just races on Sunday. Most tracks have a practice day on Friday for seat time, Saturday & Sunday is for racing.  :thumb:

there are pluses for both methods.. COST is better having all the races on Sunday. Less hotel and meals, don't have to take leave on Thursday, etc. And how with 6 lap sprints, your tires and fuel go further. Really, how many laps in MOST races are decided within the first few laps ? most. How much time do ya really need to set up a bike for goodness sakes.. if it takes all day you may be doing something wrong. And how many races are you looking to do ? Sometimes it makes for a boring day when you spread things out over 2 full days .. you end up practicing more than racing some times (2 rounds in the morning).

Now, 2 practice sessions in the morning (if time) then it is a bit more relaxing spreading it out over 2 days.. and the races typically are longer with 25 min gt races, and 8 lap sprints. But again, it gets more expensive all around spreading things out over 2 days. That said, i do kinda like it sometimes.

After years of racing CCS florida, I like the 2 day format. Practice all day Sat, race on Sunday. You get more practice time and there's less sitting around. I usually race 5 races in a weekend, at Daytona and Roebling it seems like there's alot more sitting around.

For me if I was racing Florida races all the time.I would not do the practice days before. For me I don't have any extra money for that and I would put more mileage on the bike then in the races also risk  having something breaking before the races.Tracks where I'm at sat I do both practices in full and sun sometimes there is 2 sessions but I don't do the whole thing. If I was on some big team I'll do every lap co can.

Agreed, and Henry has the race schedule down to a science!
His prices for practice and per race aren't bad either.

Its not just one bike. Racing 3 bikes can be a bit overwhelming and a real challenge to set up and doing it over 2 days takes the edge off and makes the weekend more relaxing. Plus having real race condition lap times helps determine final drive gearing and set up changes for better or worse so 2 days is a plus for us.

I just think its retarded to try and run All the races in one day. It's not fun at all. I started racing to race, not do sissy track days. We used to do 3-4 practice sessions in the morning, that was plenty. I don't see it costing any less. I see it costing 150 more each weekend.CCS has continued to find ways to make you think your spending less by making you pay more. Gt races used to be 30 min from the start of the race, now 25min when the five board goes up. Used to be 8 lap races, now 7. Twin sprints was advertised as saving you money on hotels , sorry I don't feel like doing ten races in a weekend. This format won't help the grids get bigger.

I think everyone would rather have two day racing...like the good ole days.  The problem is the good ole days saw grids big enough to support two day racing.  Personally, I think 2 sessions of practice is plenty but I realize alot of people prefer having 3 to 4 rounds.  CCS is a for-profit organization.  So if it seems like they are not trying to save you money...its because they're not.  I'm out of the MW region and based on how small our grids were again this past BHF, we don't have enough guys to make it financially smart for CCS to return to two day racing.  However, I know you guys out East boast healthier grids as a rule of thumb.  From every CCS person I've spoken with, they say they'd love to return to a two day format.  It's less stressful on them, they don't have to worry about crunching time and can afford to throw red flags.  I just hope that the sport can begin to grow again....cheaper fees and more contingency!
Well how could there be two number 1's? It'd be number 11 then?

Well said Jonathan. I think you summarized the issue pretty clearly.   :thumb:

i don't see how spreading it over 2 days takes the edge off having 3 bikes.. In FL region with ALL DAY saturday practice, you could get 2 sessions in on each bike. Or, if you go out on one of em and it's ready you have an EXTRA session to sort out one of the other bikes.
2 day format, you have 2 sessions early morning, then you go racing.. Sunday, repeat. So please explain how the 2 day format is any easier for your situation??

Well we race 3 bikes. Ninja 250, Moriwaki MD 250, and an SV 650.
We use one of Saturdays practice sessions and the GTL to get the SV set up for Sundays LWSS & LWSB races. The other Saturday practice session is for the MD. The ninja just gets pulled out of the trailer and raced on Sunday in ULTB. Having all day Saturday to get the bike ready and test out changes in a 25 min race condition really helps. Then we can drink a few beers and get the final set ups dialed sat eve and sleep easy Sunday morn knowing we're ready to go. Helps with the long drives home as well.

I understand that your saying that we have all day Saturday to get dialed in but once Sunday comes and the races start you have to scramble to make changes, etc. plus braking up the weekend into smaller bits makes it more enjoyable for everyone and my son can watch some of the middle weight races and what not. Not really sure if that answers your question or explains why I like the 2 day format....

We were at the CCS Florida USGPRU finale last seasons the way the weekend went was odd for us and seemed like we had a lot of work to do on Sunday in a short amount of time. Just was not as fun
