Ha, yeah the factories are in it for the purse!!! Do you happen to remeber the purses in 2008 back when everything was so amazing in AMA pro racing?

Ohh and thank god they cut that pile of a series from the big show. It was a neat idea but in its current incarnation it had no business taking up time at a national weekend.

Yeah, I'm with Ben.  Purses before were lame.  There was a time when there was no purse at all in Supersport.

What will the AMA require for contingency from the manufacturers would have to be the follow up question.

can't say I'm surprised. Seeing the state of the economy and all, I wouldn't be shocked if they suspended the whole damn season for ALL classes.
mind your own damn business

They didn't do it years before when the economy was bad, so I wouldn't expect that.

Really seems like they have something planned.  Maybe they are going to go to a two day format, Saturday & Sunday.  Can't say that I have any actual insight at this time.

Purses, yeah they're pretty pointless. Factories spend tens of thousands per weekend, it's irrelevant.
However, your motoGT argument is ignorant. DMG is screwing up bad. It's not about how entertaining or competitive the class is, or whether or not it belongs. The issue is that they seem to have no direction. DMG should understand better than anyone that the season does not start at the first race. Pro racing is a business, deals are made years in advance. I personally know one team owner who had a significant amount of time and capital invested in securing sponsorship, bikes, and riders for a 2010 MotoGT program. He can't get that back.
Three months from Daytona and no one knows what the hell is going on. They look ridiculous.
