Ok folks,

This goes out to all of you that have that 5500 to 15000 Watt Noisy Ass Construction Grade, Home Depot, ON Sale, generator to Power your $35.00 Walmart fan and tire warmers.  WTFudge, can we make the pits any noisier from that OVERKILL of a Generator.  Not only does it give you a Headache all day, those few people who have them can't afford a Long Extension cord after spending the money on that POS generator to have consideration for his fellow racer to put it somewhere farther away, other than the opposite side of his trailer, (so he wont be bothered by the noise and vbration it emits) yet up against mine, only to give us the headache all day of listening to it!!  In addition, you can't hear the announcements for any of the calls, crashes, delays, practice groups, etc. etc.  I pay just as much as everyone else to come and ride...to enjoy myself, to relax, and to be able to hear the person next to me, other than constantly scream all day and say,"What?"

Now some of you are going to tell me that I should've moved....I was going to move that first day, except for the guy who parked his pick up and trailer right up along my trailer (I don't even know how he managed to get out of his truck since I had extended the canopy off of it the night before to give the next guy an idea of what I was trying to accomplish).  Oh, did I mention the guy that backed his trailer up against the front of my trailer tongue as well with his trailer- WTFudge?  So, I indulged myself with the greatest of patience all weekend only not to want to turn off the 4 5500-15000 Watt Generators surrounding me!!  Here's an idea, purchase one of those NICE AND QUIET, PLENTY OF POWER, HONDA GEnerators.  Yes, they might be a bit pricey....but they will go 10 times longer, save you on fuel, and the Decibel Rating will be less than your bike with the muffler removed.  If you don't believe me...go by Rat Racing and see the three Honda 5500 Watt Generators....and you'll be able to carry on a conversation, headache free, standing right next to them.  I even offered the one guy my trailer power, just so he would turn off his 15000 Watt Generator and he just laughed!   :finger:

If you're not Smilin' while you're ridin', then QUIT!

Amazing how rude some people can be setting up their pit isnt it? Kinda like people that put their canopies into the paddock road and park their bikes there also. Nothing like making a NARROW paddock road NARROWER. Or people who park their cars in no parking zones. Really wish tracks would ENFORCE not only noise regs to help stop problems you had with generators, but also make rules making putting up canopies and parking race/personal vehicles within 2' of the pit road surface.

Guys with the Nascar edition generators can make a muffler pretty cheap that reduces noise.  I have a nasty one, was able to not use it this weekend and used the Honda EU3000.  They are nice

Ya F2RGK was surrounded the next day by other peoples trailers. The guys behind us had their noisy azz generator going and he decided to put it away from his trailer up against ours! He couldve put it on the other side of his trailer away from ours but he literally put it right next to the tongue of ours 5 ft away from his. I think they were even aggravated whenever I rode my bicycle by them because the only way to get out of the pit was over their cord and between their trailer.  Im not sure though because I couldn't understand what they were saying.

Whatever though. It wasn't the end of the world. Just sayin...  :whine:

congrats to D-wire... (didn't you set a new track record?)

People with noisy generators should put them no closer to another trailer than their own.

It was much quieter before tire warmers.

Devin,  thanks.  Barney and I were exchanging the record for 4 laps or so....all within 9 hundredths of the old record.  He ended up going 1.16.60 to my 1.16.61. ....I should have farted on the straightaway!

It's one thing to have a noisy one, if that's all you can have for now, but to not do anything to block the sound in anyway, esp. putting them in other people's areas, is annoying. Gus... were you the one wearing teal scrubs yesterday after racing was over?

Yeah I guess I am one of those guys, except I was pitted in my area before anyone else on Friday. I usually tell everyone before they pull in and get their stuff out that I'm that guy with "that generator" and park at your own risk.  I have 100' ext cords that I use, I park the thing as far away as possible and always let anyone who needs to plug into go ahead. Funny thing it's powered by a Honda engine. Racing is done on a budget by most people and I don't think I'm too far off the mark by saying not everyone can afford your recommendations for a generator. I have a A/C & everything else in trailer plus 4 sets of warmers, I'm not going out to buy a EU6500 or two EU3000's to make you happy. You want me to get a quiter generator then buy me one because I'm sure as sh*t not going to anytime soon. I do agree that if you know you have one of the noiser generators you should try your best to limit the decibel noise as much as possible. This is always a interesting subject but I think this year if you can just make it to the track you should be happy. There was much more noise problems at the far end of the pits due to the drag racing  than the generators by the way.Flame on :pop:

Blackbeener, where were you pitted? (just curious, i'm not trying to make a big deal or anything) Oh, and who was Josh Hayes there with/for? Did anyone see him driving that XL monster RV/Truck? I gotta get one of those, so I can store my beatup r6 in. :)

I purchased a brand new Honda generator last year at the beginning of the season. I also own one of those " Hammers of Hell" generators but elected to leave that at home and practice some pit ettiquet. I read a lot of posts like this one that prompted me to make the Honda purchase. Our season opener last year was at Daytona and when we got into the pits and got set up, turns out we were surrounded by the exact make and model genny that we left at home. We just looked at each other and laughed. Couldn't hear squat all weekend. We just watched for bikes in our classes to move out and caught a scattered announcement from time to time. I now carry both just in case we get somewhere that has no electricity. I only break out the pile driver when I absolutely have to. I WISH I could afford a 6500 Honda. Maybe next year?

To me it's not such a big deal about the generators being loud. Just the way some decided that theirs was too loud to put right up on their trailer so they put it up on someone elses. I know it's cramped in the paddock but damn.

Life goes on though...   8)

Who is ready for Homestead??? I haven't looked if there are any track days between now and then. I would like to get some practice in.
