Hey Ski,

Are you a cop in Illinois?  If so, I just got out of traffic court.  I am pissed, the fine for speeding is now $285.  If I mailed it in it would've been $75.  Your honest opinion, is that bullshit or what?  That's the states way of scaring a person out of a fair trial.  When you get a ticket you weigh the cost of both, going to court and trying, to mailing in your guilt.  The states attorney tried to be a smart-ass bitch, but I wasn't having it.  After I plead not guilty, she took me out in the hallway and asked how fast I was going in my opinion.  I said that if I were speeding that I might have done 40 instead of the accused 53 in a 35 zone.  She said that if I wanted that I would only pay $185.  I thought about it and said, screw it I guess I am all in at this point.  In court when I said that I wasn't speeding, she piped up and told the judge that out in the hallway that I admitted to speeding.  Thats when I asked her if she ever read my rights to me, she said that she didn't.  I told the judge that I wasn't aware that what I was saying would be admissible in court.  Everybody in the court started laughing, even the cops.

In the end I had to pay $100, but that was only thanx to my lovely wife.  She translated for a guy who couldn't speak English, and the judge said that he appreciated it. I wonder what my fine would have been if I went to court with an overweight ugly cousin of mine.  Pretty girls always get more.  Sorry to talk work with you while youre not at work.  I also want to congratulate you and your wife on the good news.  I said it before but, getting the women in your life into racing is the easiest way to be "allowed" to continue such a lifestyle.

Wow. All I can say is that Illinois has some pricks in their legal system. No, I am not a cop over there. I am in the St. Louis area. I fully believe that the "adjustable" ticket price thing is absolute horse shit, personally. The courts do not want to try the cases- they want people to send in a payment. It is a horrible excuse for a legal system to allow someone to pay a smaller amount through the mail, then nail them with a higher fine just because that person wanted to exercise their right to havea day in court.

For anyone reading this- Gigolo got reemed, plain and simple. Just do me one favor- please remember that the cops are out there doing just doing the job that we are supposed to do. Unfortunately, shit like this (from the court side) tends to breed more animosity towards us....which sucks ass. But with treatment like that, I understand.

As for the beeotch attorney- thats absolute bullshit for her to mention that you "admitted" speeding to her in the hallway.  You did the best thing you could, IMHO. You called her out, and that was great!

I guess you can say that our wonderful lack of a border polict really did save your ass.  Its very cool of your wife to translate, and worked out well for you in the end. (I'm surely gonna get a spite for saying that, aren't I? LOL)

As for pretty girls getting more.....true and false. My wife is hot, so I don't put up with ANY of that cute-chick-crying BS while on a traffic stop.

Case in point- a few years back, I stopped a woman because her plate were expired for over a year. I walk up to the car, and she is HOT.  Not just hot, but DAMNED HOT. She could have done a Maxim spread. Anyways, she had her blouse unbuttoned (no bra) and her skirt pulled up- WAAYYYY up. She was flirting so hard, it was almost pitiful. She had an expired license, no insurance etc.  I went back to my car and started writing her a few coupons for $100 or so off her next paycheck and then walked back up to her car. I could see her watching me in her mirror, and knew she was pissed. When I got to her window, she rolled it down about one inch. She had her blouse buttoned up to her neck, and her skirt pulled back down! Hahaha- she had obviously been using the "hotness" card alot!

This job is a trip. You really do get to see all that society has to offer....and then some!

Sorry to hear about your court issue, man. Between judges and lawyers these days, its amazing our legal system hasn't pushed society into anarchy.

Cheers,

Ski

The judge was great he explained everything to me, while the states attorney was trying to hit me with shit quickly as to confuse and derail my arguments.  As we were walking out I told the states attorney that I could always learn how to be a better attorney, but she will always be ugly.

Oh and BTW, one of my favorite movies is Super Troopers.

gimme a liter of cola.

In a recent survey carried out for toiletries firm "Brut", people from Detroit and Chicago have proved to be the most likely to have had sex in the shower.

In the survey, 86% of Detroit's and Chicago's inner city residents (almost all of whom are registered Democrats) said that they have enjoyed sex in the shower.

The other 14% said that they have not been to prison yet.

Oh boy IL don't get me started, oh hell already there

Got pulled over in our truck a Freightliner FL 60 4 ton truck doing the posted speed limit.

Speed limit 65 then 50 yards or so down the road is another sign motorhomes trailers and vehicles over 4 tons 55mph. Not pulling a trailer, not a motorhome and not over 4 ton, exactly spot on 4 ton

Wrote up ticket for 10 over and said it 4 tons means 8,000 pounds nope not in any other state I have ever been to if you are taking GVW then it is 8,000 pounds tons refer to carrying capacity and even registration spells out carrying capacity in tons. Since I have a commercial drivers license a 10 over ticket was going to be bad news for insurance, 15over they suspend license, ouch! So I prepare my self for any and all ways to not have a conviction o my record, defense driving, check I am eligible, down side I have to drive to BFE IL to take the course no on line, Make a plea arrangement, oh in IL you have to have an atty to negotiate a plea bargain, ok hire attorney to rep me to avoid traveling to IL, $800!?! no thanks! post pone trial and set as jury trial (in TX and I am sure in most states court keeps a percentage of all fines to pay curt costs ie incentive to find you guilty) for after next race that I will be somewhat close to BFE IL, make all night run to be at court at 8am. Bailiff tells me to wait in hall and atty would meant with me before trial after a hour ask belief how long, they will be with you they know you are here, how I have not checked in???. I sit and sit jurors are called in jurors leave for lunch. I ask someone else what is up as I haven't ever waited so long for a docket to be called in my life. She comes back and says you have a warrant for your arrest, what? why? for what? failure to appear for court that morning! WTF?!?!  She finds the other bailiff that had told me to wait in the hall after lunch is over and he admits that he told me to wait there thinking I had hired an atty since it was jury trial day. I then am sent to another office to have my case rescheduled, ah no I am here when scheduled, if you want to dismiss the case for failure to have a quick and speedy trial I will accept that, didn't work but I tried. When they start talking about rescheduling for the next month and I inform them that I will need a public defender now as this is now a financial hardship, You should have seen the look I got for that but she knew I was right and about 30 minutes later I had a $75 plea offer and no moving violation.

Guess what? I drive around IL now and I get to Rd A 2 hours faster!

Eric,

I lived and worked throughout the south for several years after high school, and that experience has taught me that the biggest difference between Illinois and the south, is that people treat people with respect down there.  I cant tell you how many times I would be driving and some guy in a truck would wave at me.  Not knowing that is how people are down there.  You can walk up to somebody and have a completely random conversation.  Around here, you are most likely to be ignored.  I dont think of myself as a by-the-book person, but asking someone to think for themselves, or at the very least, think outside the box is unheard of.  My mom lives in OK city, she wanted me to move there, and I probably would have if you had not decided to stop racing Hallett.    BOO!!!!!!

You must live up north in the Chicagoland area ( guessing, could be wrong...wouldn't be the first time).

I am not about to defend Illinois when it comes to the bureaucracy and the like. Born and raised here and I agree that Illinois probably sets the standard for BS in that department.

I am sorry you all got screwed around by Illinois Criminal Justice System, the same way I am sorry that once again our governor made us look bad.

Imagine what its like for those of us that live here.

However to qualify the entire population of the state as this, that or the other is a bit much. 8)

I've generally found people in Illinois pretty easy to get along with.  Wait, that's a generalization.  Guess I better backdown a little and cast a wary gaze next time I meet someone from Illinois......especially if I run into a couple of guys driving around in a former U-Haul rental truck painted white!   :ass:
