You think IL is bad and that Wisconsin is any better???
I once hit a beater pickup truck with broken tail lights that made a left turn from the right lane on a secluded WI road.  There were three in my car, all consistent witnesses, and we were lucky not to be injured.  When the sheriff got there he ignored me and turned to the driver of the pickup and said, 'What happened here Janey?"
She proceeded to tell him her lies and when all was said and done I ended with a wrecked car, bruises and a ticket from the jerk representing Wisconsin's finest county sheriffs.  What was the citation?  "Failure to sound horn when passing in a rural area".  Janey, of course, got off scott free.

So remember to blast your horn like crazy whenever you pass anyone in Wisconsin.  If you don't, it could cost you 'bout $250.  Go figure.

At least Chicago cops don't waste your afternoon while they attempt to spell.  They write you up and get you going in 5 - 10 minutes max.  No whining, lectures, lies, etc.  Just all business and you're on your way

Chicago cops dont have any time for traffic bullshit.  My Uncle (in-law) is a Chicago cop, his patrol is 100% about drugs and gangs.  They use traffic as an excuse to pull someone over.  When I was 19, I think a cop, and a thief saved my life.  I had a GSXR-600, we were doing wheelies and stupid shit up and down L.S.D. all night and passed a cop.  I wondered why everybody split, (I didn't have mirrors) then I heard him behind me.  He didn't give me a ticket but he told me to quit "being a dumbass".  Two weeks later, after my bike was stolen from in front of my house, a dude in the same group died on the Eisenhower.  Could have been me.

Amen. One of my favorite things to tell people is that I am not Dr. Phil, nor am I here to act as a preacher. I hated getting that crap form cops when I was younger, and I swore I would never be "that guy."

I worked a similar unit, here in North St. Louis County for years. It was a Mobile Reserve Unit. We didn't answer typical calls, and if it wasn't drugs, guns or gang bangers- we didn't screw with it.  I think that my years with M.R. gave me a better outlook in terms of dealing with the average "Joe Motorist" or "Joe Citizen" (hey, I sound like a McCain ad! LOL).

In my opinion, the coppers who treat everyone as though they are hardened criminals, are idiots. They basically haven't really seen true "bad guys" and they put on the hardass front to Grandmas and kids.  I hate that shit as it makes the rest of us look like douchebags.

But, like any profession, one idiot makes a hundred good cops look bad!
