Hey guys I just wanted to give you all the heads up in regards to my banner RiderSurance.com that went up last week and what it's all about.  I have been an insurance broker since I switched to road racing 5 years ago.  I fell into my career in insurance mainly working with local businesses offering health, life, disability and dental insurance.  I started RiderSurance after getting so many requests from racers from all over the country where I raced that were having problems getting coverage that covered racing and track days or just didn't know where to get it.   The perk of my site is that I have done a lot of research to find out what companies do not have racing/riding exclusions.  So if you gain coverage through my site you fan know that you are 100% covered.  I am licensed in every state (except Minnesota which is processing), and I want to continue to make it as easy as possible for the motorcycle community to get a free quote and apply for coverage.  So feel free to get a quote, compare your coverage and let me know what you think, Thanks!

Definitely one of the best things I did this off season was to get insured through one of Brandon`s companies. I was able to get a better policy for the same money (actually a little cheaper!) and racing is not excluded!!!  Also,  Brandon`s customer service is second to none! :thumb:

Good work - is there secondary coverage available for people with existing policies who won't/can't switch, and is there separate repatriation coverage available?  Also, with which carriers are you appointed in FL?  Thanks!

I just received word that my MN license was approved on 3-21-08 and they don't send you a license you go to their site and print it off.  So I am licensed! Now i just need to become affliated with BCBS of Mn.  I will keep you posted.

I work with Aetna in Florida and i have alot of guys in the same boat as you.  They have great coverage throught their spouse or somewhere else for free but it doesn't cover racing.  You can get a secondary policy through me that you would use incase you got hurt while racing/riding.  Typically you would get a policy that is just a high deductible with no other benefits (set up like a car insurance plan)  meaning the insurer doesn't pay out until the deductible is met.

I will check with UHC (my carrier).  I'm pretty sure that I included motorsports coverage and repatriation coverage, all w/medium deduct ($2900/yr), but if not then I'll need secondary coverage for those two things.  Thanks.

p.s.  Will you be getting appointed with anyone else in FL?

I know that UHC individual products has exclusions against racing and riding if you are under 30yrs old. However if it is a group policy it could differ.  Anyhow as of right now i am not getting appointed with any more health insurance companies but i am appointed with other Life insurance and Disability insurance companies.  email if you want to learn more or get a quote on those products...

Thanks for the good questions!

Thanks, I have Golden Rule (UHC) individual, but am over 30 so that's why perhaps there is no exclusion.  I will email about disability coverage, and repatriation.

Brandon.Parrish

Email sent.. and Golden Rule does have racing exclusions... just FYI :-/

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! I stand corrected sir, I called in again to UHC and found out that I was misinformed.  If racing and is just a hobby then in Kentucky, Louisiana, Georgia, Kansas, Deleware and Connecticut they can put an exclusion rider on the policy.  But for all other states they can not exclude they can just rate the policy up 20%.  If racing is your occupation than it can not be excluded in any state.

Yes, thank you for confirming.  When I called today, they confirmed that motorsports participation is NOT an exclusion; however, there is no repatriation coverage, and there is no option to add it.

In response to your question, repatriation coverage is coverage that pays for medical transport from the facility where an individual is being treated to a facility near the patient's primary residence, e.g., see the sticky thread on Brian Hall and the fund raising efforts to get him home in this section of the forum.  Because injured riders need special medical transportation to be relocated, the cost can be high, such as in the case of the rider who suffered a closed head injury at Jennings late last year and wanted to be relocated to Utah, where his family could better attend to his needs.  The cost for that was in excess of $14k, iirc.

I purchased a separate Accident Medical Coverage policy with a $10K benefit maximum, which can be used towards medical transportation for repatriation, however I'm not sure how that works in conjunction with primary insurance and if that money would be used up before it could be made available for repatriation medical transportation.
