Jester, don't worry, we are very sympathetic and will patiently listen to all your whining..err crying.

Get a trainer and do some indoor riding. Not the most fun but it does help. I use Spinervals DVDs. The fitness series (4) is a good start. I have heard that the competition series can be quite difficult.

We could do some warmup rides such as the 40 mile Alpine Valley route (http://www.backyardbikes.com/Routes.asp). Paul, myself, and Paul's brother did a metric century with the same hill, I really didn't think it was that big of a deal. Just watch out for flying frame pumps on the decent. Oh, we will wait (and not laugh too much) if you take the alternate route :)

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOOOHOOO! What a freaken ride"

That is what came stock on the bike.

Of course a custom bike comes with any wheels your budget can handle :)

50/34 compact crank, 13-26 ten speed cassette. I like to climb. Like Paul said I like to spin, generally about 95 to 105 rpm.
