No no no, you didn't offend me.  See it's a really looonnngggg story about a guy, a girl and a pink race bike.

I'm going to skip the relationship story and just mention that if you're racing in the GP region, the format is different.  Really nice for couples who both do track days and one races.  The weekends are set up as trackday on Saturday thats open to anyone and racing on Sunday.

Random question here ...
Plus it would be pretty nice for me to have a track buddy.  :boink:

Truckstop and I do trackdays and racing together.
There are many good and bad sides to this venture.

One key point here, is both people have got to have the desire to do this.
If one pushes the other, then it can build up to and beyond resentment.

Another point is, some people use this "hobby" as a getaway, like bowling or "guy/girls night out".
Putting yourself in to this may make for a hostile situation.

Plus there is the added pressure of one person having the added responsibilities of taking care of themselves and the other person.

If you can find a balance with all of that, Great!
I feel Truckstop and I have a pretty good balance.

Given the opportunity, I think everyone should have our balance.
Be careful though, not everyone works the same way.

:spank: LOL,  I Love IT , SO does me wifey but only in the dirt! She's up for a little bi action if you/yours' can handle a CR125R  J/K But really I get the track time and until she gets proficient( Check Spelling )on the MX then we'd love to get together. If your other likes dirt let me know, we ride MX in and around branford white springs area (her parents or my inlaws) then I get to play on the ass fault.

Buy a simple bike and don't spend a fortune on mods .
The mods are what cost so much .most racers spend alot of money on fancy shit that does not make them any faster, if your 10 lbs over weight it's  alot cheaper to lose the weight then  spend money on lighter parts.

Yeah, I forget sometimes that how things work with us, is completely disastrous for other couples, whether it's just fear for safety of the S.O. or just self sufficiency and focus. We know pretty well when to push and when not to push and leave each other alone so we do pretty ok.

Sounds like 23sLady and her dude are mutually supportive for trackdays though, and the dynamic seems right. Test and tune days are a little different from trackdays as it's racer practice and if you're inexperienced on the track, off pace, and nervous about close passing, it might be wise to wait. There's no passing rules like most trackday orgs, and it's a pretty broad range of experience out there.  I still think you might enjoy doing the licensing clinic. I'm not sure what it's like in your region, but in the midwest the on-track stuff was really laid back with a huge range in ability. You can read about my experience here.

As for racing, I was about as scared before my first race as I was before my first trackday. In both cases, they were really nothing to be afraid of, and I still think both are serious fun. (But in different ways.)

Heh... and Truckstop and I used to do trackdays together... oh wait, we still do, except now X is the one that has to deal with her the rest of the time!

(for those of you in our viewing audience, I am Truckstop's ex-boyfriend)

All I can say is that this sport is wonderful thing to share with someone you care about... and after having a past girlfriend that I did trackdays with, I can't imagine not trying to get the new s.o. involved as well..... whenever I get around to finding a new girlfriend.

I spent the past weekend at Blackhawk with Truckstop and X (among others) doing a STT trackday and had a wonderful time. I suppose to a lot of people to say "Yea, I hung out with my ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend all weekend and had a blast" they'd look at you funny... but I think that speaks volumes for the quality of people involved in this sport.....

My girlfriend and I both race - and that's how we met... It worked out great when we both ran the in CCS - but since I have gone to racing with the AMA - things are a bit harder... I can say that I am really glad that she understands the demands of racing - cause I have had girlfriends that didn't have a clue... Man was that hell!!!
If you are able to turn somewhat competitive laptimes and are able to hold a line while on the track - without getting spooked.... I say do it - there is nothing better then spending time with your other at the track.....

*This* is the thread that brings you out of lurking?? :P
Remember we did have to go through a period of time of space and not talking and not liking eachother much before we could work out the being friends part again, which helps with the part where we all have to get along and hang out together... and being able to do that speaks volumes about both you and X as people.

Not everyone can get along with their spouse at the track though. The stress level and concentration some need is something that the S.O. can't deal with. Plenty of couples are better off if the spouse stays home. I don't think that's the case here.

I was just thinking, while it is great that you two( yous? youins? forgive me its how weins in S. IL speak) can make the relationship work...I would have to think there are situations where it just doesn't make sense. And I don't mean those situations where one member of the relationship is trying to get away from "the wife, kids, grown up life".

My wife has been nothing but supportive of the racing thing, but she also has decided ( after this year ) that she can't watch ...too hard on her, so consquently she supports me from home, so when I call and tell her I crashed again, she can tell me I am still great! ( YES FOR SOME REASON SHE THINKS I AM GREAT :finger:)
