I think there was a med flight out of RA, if i remember correctly it was Saturday.  Appeared to be in the Turn 1 area.  I never did hear what had happened.  Just wondering if anyone knew anything about this.  Hopefully it was just precautionary, and the injuries were minor.

It happened at the chicane..I was talking to the corner worker afterword and he told me the guy was out cold for about 4 min. and the after he came to he didnt know where he was,name,ect.. so they flew him out for better medical attention than what they had at the track..Better safe than sorry, but it didnt sound like he had anything broken

I helped load up his stuff at the track, he was there with Bob Weinert. I went and got his bike from tech after the crash truck brought it in (suprisingly it just needs a clip-on, footpeg, and the belly pan has a piece out of the top of it, but still usable).

Talking with Bob on the phone Sunday it sounded like as far as they knew at that time his freind who crashed (sorry - can't remember his name) had sprained his wrist, broken a finger, and got one hell of a concussion. From what I understand his helmet was actually split in the inside from the impact, but the outside retained it's structure.

Bob might post an update here, if not I will relay any more info that I find out. I know they are very interested in finding out any more info from anyone who witnessed or may have also been involved in the crash, if anyone has more info concerning it please post it here or send me a personal message. Thanks!

I talked to one of the workers sunday and they said that they had heard he was okay. when he came too he didn't know much of anything; where he was, name, day, etc.
they said they decided to fly him for a cat scan just in case but last they heard he was awake and doing okay as of sunday afternoon.
that's all i've got. just word of mouth.
best wishes to him either way. hope he is okay.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOOOHOOO! What a freaken ride"

I think I was one of the first bikes that came by after the crash.  They had just pulled out the yellow flag, a bike was laying in the middle of the track at the exit of the chicane with the rear wheel still spinning, and I'm pretty sure I saw a rider running off the track to the left, though it could've been a corner worker?  Red flag came out by the time I hit the front straight.

I was cornerworking corner 10A otherwise known as "the bend" when this incident occurred. Two riders came together while entering the left turn into the bend, when the dust settled one rider was in the middle of the track splayed out on his back and the other rider was face down on the grass on riders right. I was the first person to get to both riders. The rider on his back was the one (I believe) who sustained a wrist injury. The other rider was unresponsive for several minutes after the crash. He was the rider that the med flight was called for. I would be interested to find out if these guys are o.k.  I've been working corners at RA for 17 years and crashes like this one still scare the crap out of me.

Props to a fellow corner worker  :thumb:!!!  I hope you get news regarding the outcomes of the riders.  We are lucky through MARRC in that we have wonderful Chaplins that respond to incidences and often assist with any additional things that need to be done for the injured riders.  Their services are often "over looked" but they do a million of the little things to help make a bad situation easier for the riders, family and friends.  They also follow up with the riders and keep the crew informed as to their outcomes.  Of course, the BEST updates are when the riders themselves show up later to update us themselves!!!

Unless there was more than one accident on saturday involving med flight, I'm betting the referenced crash was the one I was involved in.  I was transported by ambulance to St. Nicholas hospital in Sheboygan and stayed sat and sun. Six broken bones in all......  tib/fib-left leg, radius/ulna/navicular-left wrist, collarbone-left shoulder :(  Surgery on the leg scheduled for Wednesday July 18th. Wrist and collarbone apparently will not need surgery so far. Got a bit lucky I guess in that all of my breaks (according to ortho surgeon) are of an easier nature to repair and I should fully recover in a few months. Till then I am wheelchair bound.

Am relieved to hear that the other rider is okay, and I hope his recovery is both quick and as painless as possible! Sounds like one tough fella.

Big-BIG kudos to you zookrider and the others that helped me. I was pretty busted up, in a lot of pain, and scared for myself and the other rider.  Your efforts are greatly appreciated!!! I also want to thank the EMT's, the track doctor, the chaplin, the staff at St. Nic's, and everyone else who assisted me that day and in the ones that followed.........I'll never be able to repay your kindness, concern, and dedication toward my/our well being.

+1 on the bone stuff.  I also broke my left collarbone one
Saturday and have been taking the stuff since Monday
night.  The shoulder and collarbone feel great, almost
have full range of motion back already, trying not to push
it.   Glad to hear your injuries were not life threatening.
Hope to see you back on the track soon.

Scott#424, bro you got busted up from top to bottem, but in your post you are grateful towards all those who helped you, thankful your own injuries were not worse, and concerned for the other rider...That is what I call class.  Sayin a prayer for ya bro, and for your surgery on the 18th.

Glad to hear you're doing OK. The silence on the air told us all that this was a serious incident.

What I've heard since is that the other rider wound up with a broken hand a couple of broken ribs and a bad concussion. Good to hear that his injuries weren't too bad.
