Is there a specific shade of yellow that the numberplate background has to be?  As long as it's not some funky derivative?  I'm having the backgrounds made up as vinyl decals and just want to make sure the color is right.

Make it a bright yellow wihtout too much of any other color in it (like green), or else they will yell at you at tech.  Ask me how I know.  Like Ducati yellow.

According to the guy that chastized me he would like to see school bus yellow for number plates on all bikes.  I suggested they put that in the rule book but I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen.  I was also told at the same time that RC51's were meant to be ugly when raced because you have to put your numbers up partially on the windscreen.  I can't wait to see how they want the numbers on the new R6 and Zx6's.

Larry Manor had me repaint my plate 2 years ago, because it was "green". It was actually bright yellow. So don't get all artistic, it'll cost you time later on. Have them make your vinyl in basic yellow.

Do or do not, there is no "try".

Mine was green too, but the spray can said flourescent YELLOW.  I guess the people at the paint places must be color blind.  I avoided any more conflicts by going white this year.  I'm just not sure which WHITE I need to use.

I wasn't going to get creative with the color; just making sure there wasn't an exact standard to follow.  I'll try to get as close to "school bus yellow" as I can.

Thanks!

Tech person: What's that between the 8 and the 0?
Change that before you hit the track.

Yeah at 130+ mph that looks like 870 or 810 or 800. it is major pain to read in a crowd; one bike by itself or in 30 mph pack is not a problem.

What about the 7's that look like 1's.Did you ever hear such a thing, they should of warned us in grade school!! :P

Eric Kelcher

not 7's that look like 1's but 1's that look like 7's. no serif allowed on numbers simple straight lined numbers only.   :P

On the number plate issue for ZX6R/ZX6RR and RC51 it has been decided and rules relaxed a little due to transponders being used. I don't know the exact terms or how it will be worded I am sure Kevin will get it out soon.

I have no problem with the number being easily read, but I think that some flexibility isn't such a bad thing.  "That other" organization seems to deal with it fine.  I may be racing both orgs and it would be nice to be able to have it set up the same for each and not take up half my windscreen with the numberplate.  :)
