Just checked it out, the weekend schedule is up and looks like were only doing 7 lap sprints.  Team challenge on Sunday-78 laps... Looks like a full schedule on Saturday and Sunday.   :o

as long as they run that TC in the afternoon and I'm out before it starts, it's all good!

I know that the 7 lap format had been discussed a long time ago to eliminate the confusion about where "half-way" is in the race, and also to condense the time to allow for all the races to be run.

Team challenge should be fun to watch at BFR. :D

Do or do not, there is no "try".

Is that going to be the schedule for all the races at blackhawk or just the first weekend?

That's a 12% reduction in track time.  I don't like it.

weggie_man

Less track time to figure out where half way is in a race?  Let's see half of 8 is duh....4? Half of 7 is ???3.5??? What the f-ck is that about?

Fewer laps sucks ........period. I've said it every year and I'll say it again. There are way too many classes.
Too many classes with the same riders, over and over again.

Bring a new person to the track and they leave totally confused as to why the same people race in 5 different races on the same bike.

Fewer classes, longer races!

I'm with the G-Man on this one.  When I invite people to a race weekend, they are completely confused.  How many times have all of us had to explain the different classes to someone, like it's second nature to us, and the other person's eyes start to glaze over?

Less classes, longer races.

Seven laps is silly.  You blast off the start, and you've only got one or two laps to set up a pass, then it's over.

I really do think the shorter races make for far more desperation, which creates unsafe decisions.

Has anyone thought of the safety aspect of this?

Take a look at a TC race at RA.  It's 200 miles long, 2+ hours.  For all that continuous track time, the amount of crashes is far less proportionally than in a 4 lap sprint.  Same goes for BHF.  When we are pressed for time, the starts are more dangerous, and the laps are far more hectic.

Thank you for your support.

Hmmmm?  Who do you think likes more classes and less laps?  The Man!!  The man collecting all our entrance fees and now with less laps, doing less maintenance on the track.

I would imagine if enough of us are together on this we could "go on strike" for certain "duplicate" classes and just not enter.

I'm a lightweight guy, so if anyone is with me to run Thunderbike, and not run Lightweight Superbike, find me at R.A. and lets organize.

That is an easy arguement, but in reality, it isn't that hard for "The Man" (Kevin) to simply raise the prices of the Entry 5 Bucks per race to offset the loss of less classes...(Or whatever the cost is)

But I can tell you that I enjoy "Sprint" Races, and I don't want all my races to be 25 Min GT Races either...

I think that 7 Laps is pretty short, maybe 12-14 Lap Races...

But rather than a Certain Number of Laps, I believe it should be a time...

Let's say the "average" time at BHF is 1:20, and we want all races to be approx 15 Mins Long...So, make the races at BHF 13 Laps...Loose a few classes and make longer races...Charge a little more...I would gladly pay it...

I strongly agree that shorter lap races does increase the amount of risk racers must take to pass and move thru the field...
