QuoteI've heard nothing but good things about Vansons, and they will be my next set.  My Alpines crashed good, but apparently you can't fix holes around the outer plastic armor; right Alexa?

That's right G! Tommy, tell him what he's won! :D

The Alpinestars SMX2 and any of the other suits with exo-skeleton type armor are almost impossible for me to repair in the arms and shoulder area. A-stars Torrence CA facility does these repairs, but at an astronomical price.

Anyone looking to buy new or used leathers for the coming season can feel free to call me @ 414.327.0967  or email me here for any info you might need on brand, price or fit.

I was considering RS Taichi, Alpinestars, and Custom Vansons. Joe Rocket seems to have licensed Suzuki, Yamaha, and Kawasaki replica leathers for 2006. Very cool looking. I hear nothing but good things about RS Taichi and the same about Vansons. The vansons seem really thick and bulky. Does it affect your movability at all? I'm not too concerend about price or fit. I just wanna look pimp.  ;D just kidding..

Are they custom in the sense that you gave them your measurements and they made an off the rack suit for you or did you design them yourself as well?

The RS_taichi suits are the best we have ever used. Joe Rocket have been some of the junk...c'mon Dano get with it! For some good leathers at a price point we had a team member try the Moto GP kangaroo suit this year and he crash tested it a few times. He walked away fine and the suit weathered the season, but after four crashes it is definitely time for a new one. I think the safest suits you will buy will be the RS Taichi and the Vanson. Price really shouldn't be an option in my opinion. Compromise something else...but not your safety gear. If you can't afford to do it right, wait until you can.

Rob,
How long does it usually take to get a RS Taichi suit? I was told that they aren't readily available.

In most cases I should be able to get you one within a week.

I know everyone has their own opinion about leathers but here is my .02. ;)

I have worn Vanson, Spidi, Kushitani, RS Tiachi, and XES throughout my racing career. All are great leathers and hold up very well, but my suggestion is to check out the XES leathers through Phil at Moto-Heaven .com. For the money they are freakin awesome. You can get a custom fitted set designed how ever you want for $1500 or less. They are lightweight, comfortable, fully armored, removeable liner and hold hold excellant under crash testing!!

Just thought I would drop that in here!!!
