You know what?

A little something called COURTESY would go a long way in this world. If you have an Airplane Engine of a Gerator, Park in a manner in the paddock so you can point the thing away from everyone else..Don't park in the middle of the paddock and point it towards everone else...

I have a 8.5x20 Foot enclosed trailer and for whatever reason people think it is ok use 100' of extension cable to "park" their generator on the other side of MY Trailer...

I had several people do this to me at MAM people who I don't even know, to the point where I just went over and turned it off. You buy a loud a$$ generator, keep it in your pit area, not mine...

Quotethe 65dB @7M was pulled out of my backside.  The quiet hondas are in the low 50's.  60 is normal human conversation.

65db at 7M would shut down most generators.  But the thing is, it's ONLY a 10P-6A rule.  During the day, I don't really care if you run your mega-watt craftsman genny.

Yeah, missed the part about 10P-6A rule.  I don't have a problem with it...

BTW, if your dog is barking at like 2AM do something about it as well!

I agree with that....

I think I might have been one to ask you if you could turn off a genny just to find out it wasn't yours...  :-/

But that is also a great point.  If you're running your loud genny behind your trailer because it's too noisy to sit in the middle of your pit, think about the people you came in and parked next to who are DIRECTLY in the line of the noise...

People aren't that big on confrontations, so please have a bit of consideration...

If the generators are too noisy, go to Home Depot or a hardware store and purchase some metal conduit and re-route the noise to a more suitable departure; like about 6' above the ground.
I've seen this done, it works well and probably would cost more than a few $$.
When I grow up, I will buy a Honda Generator too ;D

QuoteRidge, the sign in front says 8am, not 7am.

Yep, that's what I meant.  Would be much better if it was 7am.

This March at VIR during a trackday I was trying to be courteous with my 5500 POS Sams Club one and turned it off at night. It got down to the low 40's by 2am so I threw coutesy out the window and went and started it. Sorry but I am not going to freeze my balls off because of your tender ears during a cold spell when I have a perfectly good heater right next to me.  ;D Now if I do go to a track with no power I would do everything in my power to make it more comfortable for you so I can run my AC during the night. What is that baffle idea that someone was talking about? Get some conduit and huh?

Maybe they hadnt realized it was a problem on the backside of your trailer?  Space gets limited and we all deal with it... dunno if turning off someone elses power is such a "courteous" thing to do... that becomes a safety issue in my book.

I would think (I think jeff mentioned it) noone is going to be confrontational about it, just ask, they'll comply.

Not everyone can afford a quiet generator, but again not everyone should have to battle your sound to hear the calls.  its a touchy area, but we are adults right... well... most of the time anyway!  ;D

10p-6am policy for shut off seems reasonable. ACC was interesting as all on the edge of the road had cords out to the other course, where their generators and my pit was. Pretty damn loud and annoying, but as someone pointed out the quiet gens are mucho $$$. Who gets the policy making on this one? Are you wanting this specifically for BHF?

BTW, if we end up limiting generators, then I don't think people should be talking loudly at 2AM or banging stuff on their bikes.

How far do you want to take it?

Your missing my point...

These people used 100+ foot extension cords to "relocate" their generators 100+ feet away from where they were pitted...

Had nothing to do with space, and everything thing to do with "I am a tight wad, so I purchased a loud sh1tty generator, and don't want to listen to it"

FWIW, I only turned the generator off after I asked them to kindly move it into "their area" and when they did not comply is when I turned it off...

Then they moved it...  ::)

I'd like to see it across the board.

If someone is partying loudly, I have no issue asking them to tone it down.  Banging on a bike is fairly rare as opposed to the increasing number of loud generators.

I'm not trying to be a Nazi here, just looking for some consideration.  Since there are an increasing number of people who don't seem to care so long as they are comfortable, I think the issue should be addressed.

It's a common courtesy thing that some people are refusing to acknowledge.  Kinda like leaving your VP containers and old tires next to the garbage can...
