Hope everyone is ok form the last round at BHFs, I know alot of people fell off out there this weekend.

Thanks for some great racing this weekend, even though it was pretty wet on Sunday most of us still managed to have fun with it.  Rich is nursing a clavicle, and Clark broke the top speed record....without wheels  :o, other than that the KC crew did real pretty well.

Nice to put more faces with the names.  :)

yeah I had a pretty good time.  it was nice to meet you guys finally.  Fortunately, my bike faired pretty well and my plastics actually came out looking fairly decent ( i was surprised).

Okay, so who's up for HPT? 8)

Hey Bernie...

I saw your slide into turn one...
And your fit, pounding on your tank.

What happened there?
It looked like you were playing Motorcycle Shuffle board!

I hope you were okay.

Note to self.... buy rain tires next time!

Going out in the rain on a brand new rear DOT is NOT a lot of fun, nor conducive to good laptimes! ;)

You guys may have crashed, but I still think I qualify for the bonehead move.  Staying on the line in the F40 race thinking I was in the 2nd wave!  ???  OMG, I was like WTH are these dudes doing!  Oh well, first time in F40, how was I to know the AM's started with the Experts!  :-[

Yeah that was my first races in the rain... I think my street squidlyness came in handy !  Good ole Pilot Power streets was all I had, and it was hard to hold off those guys with rain tires   :(

Yeah,

Kevin Clark was holding a lecture on "How to be a YPS in 5 easy steps" in turn 1.  Bernie thought he needed a refresher course and decided to 'slide in' to get some tips from the KING!

Well.... I saw Kevin sitting by the wall and...  he looked lonley so i decided to "slide" over and say hi! lol!

Seriously though, I am fine. That was the looooooooongest freaking slide I have ever had! That was a strange race for me.

I had a really decent start and was in third behind Dave Floyd going into t-3 and Dave went down. Being that I was "RIGHT BEHIND HIM" I kind of freaked and stood the bike up and ran off of t-3.....
Seeing that I have done this exact same manuver the last time I was at BHF I figured.. well I did it before, I can do it again. So I make a big arc get back on the track in next to last position, I really had to push it to make it all up again.

So I am passing as many bikes as I can and by the 5th lap (which I didn't know the race was shortened)
I am ganning on the only yellow plate I see in front of me. That was the green bike number 85. I come out of t-7 right behind him and saw (or what I tought I saw) the white flag.

As we were going down the straightaway, 85 went for the puddles by the wall. So when he dove to the outside goint into t-1 I crossed over to the inside to outbreak him into the turn and force him to follow me for the last lap.

At the time it was a good plan. But I was too far off of the race line and when I hit the brakes, I guess it was a little slick out where I was and when I touched the front bake.... I was on my "butt" (stupid board wouldn't let me say the word I wanted) and sliding, and sliding, and sliding, and still sliding some more, at this point I was wondering if I was going to stop here in Illinois or in Wisconsin! By this time I realise exactly where I am and thought "NO DONT STOP HERE!"

Once I did slow down to where I got back on my feet, I ran over to the bike screaming at the poor corner worker to "get it up, get it up" We got the bike up and no brake lever, no power, no tail section.

Thats when I lost it and decided to try and make my gas tank look like a golf ball. I was a "more than a little" upset at myself for throwing all that work I did out the door.

After I calm down and the crash truck dropped me and Kevin off I went to look at the results and low and behold, I still took 5th place! Apparently they dropped the checker right after we passed the tower.

As far as me... Not a scratch. Bike need some work but no biggie.

Thats what happened... thats my story and I am sticking to it! lol

I have to get ready for work now. Later! Mark...

3rd place HWSS in the full rain.  I love racing in the rain.  Another couple of laps and I'm pretty sure I could have caught 1&2, but by the time I got into 3rd there was too much of a gap...

It's the 1/2 wet, 1/2 dry racing that I dislike (like race 12-15)...

But alas, another weekend upright.  This is 3 in a row, and has to be some kind of record for me....

Hey R1owner, it's Scott (pitted right next to you).

Now I'm going to tell everyone the story:

R1owner and his brother are gridded right next to each other in the second section of the first grid (ya know how F40 has like four sections)  One board goes sideways, green waves, everyone goes.  I look back and R1 and his brother are still talking to each other on the grid!  Marshall's are screaming and waving to get their attention and they finally take off about the time everyone else exits T1.

It was hilarious!  Seriously, it was an easy mistake, us amateurs are just too used to always being in the second wave.

Hope you had a great trip home, see you at the next BHF.
