Hey all,

Just swapped out rear wheels on the SV -- my first time doing so.  Now, to adjust the chain properly . . . how much sag?  Any tips or hints?  Thanks,

Nate

Check the manual. If you don't have one, you really should get one.

For the 2003 SV it has 0.8" to 1.2" of slack in the bottom run of the chain.

Yeah -- I've got the manual.  I'm just wondering if there is anything special to do for "racing appilcations."  On the loose side, on the tight side, right in the middle, makes no difference . . . that kind of thing.

Well you don't want chain tight, if anything about 1" to 1.5" of slack should be good. Thats what I run on my SV and it works well for me. If you don't have one already, get a good shop manual, it'll help.

I tend to run about the middle of the adjustment.

As stated, you do not want to run too tight - puts a load onto the countershaft bearing that will cause premeture wear/failure.
