Do or do not, there is no "try".

Oh yeah, that's why I moved south. We had our day of snow here and then winter was over. I hated Racine winters.

Bah. That's nuthin.  We had 62degrees today.  It was sunny, beautiful, and a perfect day to...

Well...

Okay, so I didn't ride.  I cleaned the garage. :-[

the team challenge was only 1 hour long which included about 35 minutes of red flag. The winners did 13 laps (scheduled-56)

They were running late all weekend. So to speed up the proceedings they called 1st call when the previous race just started, and make the 3rd and final call on the lap before white flag. So you would sit out there for 5-15 minutes at the gate waiting to go out with your tire cooling down, which, in turn, causes more crashes and delays.

I guess no one crashes on the white, checkered or cool down laps, thats why 3rd call was given before the white flag lap.

better yet, a 3rd call was given for ULGP qualifying, and while everyone was sitting on pit road, announcement was made that 3 bikes were down on the ground in the chicane and there were oil on the ground. For those of us who didn't set up along pit raod, we were held there during the clean up. The qualifying is 15 minute long. So as soon as the signal for starting the engine is given, the clock starts. Then they made all the effort to release 1 bike at a time. There were about 4 seconds between each bike. so 5x40 = about 3 minutes and I am being generous. so you end up having about 11 minutes. Then your tires were cold because you couldn't go back to the pits. Then it takes you 2 laps to warm up which adds up to about 4 and half minues. so you have really 6 and half minutes to qualify... well anyway. it didn't really matter to me since my bike was wrong all weekend and I couldn't ride it well anyway. Still I just didn't really agree with how everything went.

Everyone at CCS worked their butts to make this weekend work as good as possible, I just felt they could have done a few things differently and things would have gone better.

props to all the CCS folks and even the Daytona security people who were very solution oriented this weekend.  nice to see.

Congrats, Dave!  It was good to see ya for those few minutes there on Sunday...

How did you like the track?

Super Dave

I guess I got to be friends with the track.

Vintage bikes are hard to ride.  Seem to run out of room trying to make them do things.  The new stuff is narrow, and I found a couple key places a bit bumpy and even a little slick.
