I was up at Thunderhill for a track day.  While I was out instructing in the C session, a Black Flag was thrown just after the checkered was given.  Not knowing what had occured, I slowed to a rather modest pace and indicated to the other riders arround me to do like wise.  I saw a photographer running with his tripod out of the impact area in turn 6.  I could not see the bike that had gone down.

I hurried back to the pit lane to find out what had happened.  There I found out it was not a rider incident, but someone had crossed the fence in turn six (the "photographer" I saw).  Pheseant season opened up last weekend here in CA.  It was a hunter dead set on whacking this fleeing rooster.  He crossed the track boundary fence, ran across the live track, and fired off a shot at the bird!!! :o

I bet my leathers could handle #8 shot... but #6!  Hmmm. :P

Yikes!  That's nuts.  What did the track day organizers do?

Good thing you weren't in Wisconson.... :-/
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

Dang Chris...

... One incident (while absolutely terrible) is not indicative of the entire state.

Someone needed to deliver a sound beatin' on this a$$ clown !  Didn't the exhaust give him a clue there was a session going on?  I would be afraid to walk across a live track, I wonder why he wasn't...

Should this have been red flag?  ??? or what is the procedure for this group on a black flag?

Lighten up, Dawn.   :-*  I was making light of a bad situation, not serving an indictment of your entire state!  Besides, you already know that Wisconson is my favorite state.  Why would I bash it?  (unless I was TRYING to get your goat, which wasn't the case here.)
Anyhow, we all know that the Wisconson sniper was a forign immigrant who lived in Minnisota!  Those are the kind of people you can't trust!  I say we deport all forigners who live in Minnisota!  They're no good!  They have beady, close-set eyes and funny accents!  Drive them out!  Save our children!

Sorry Chris...

I couldn't see the light in your eyes and the smirk on your face to realize your were being your usual smart _ _ _ self.   ;)

Well...red flag for that organization (and not that I agree with this) is to stop on track.  Black flag is to clear the track-  It was a mute point since the checkered was flying.

Out of curousity what do they do when they need to get A hazardous bike off track? if they use black for the whole field.
