Proper Road Racing! Anyone that complains that our tracks are unsafe, take a look at the photos from the Macau GP, not to mention the Ulster footage, which was just as impressive.  Amazing! Connor stay in touch, I'm still working on my plans for an overseas debut.

the ulster gp is about 80 miles from my house.
that is the fastest circuit in western europe.

average speeds over 127mph.

there is lots of that type of roadracing right on my doorstep.
remember, ireland is smaller than illinois and i live in a very central location for roadracing.

i will hang around on this board...........maybe even try encourage a few yanks to come across the pond and do a bit of real road racing.

It is near Hong Kong, just a 45-60 minute boat(high speed boat, hydrofoil) ride away.

The city sort of was China's answer to Hong Kong when HK was still under British rule.

You are right in geographic terms, but wrong on the political issue.  Maccau was to the Portuguese what Hong Kong was to the British.  The Portuguese handed Maccau back over to Chinese rule one year before the British handed Hong Kong over.

The primary difference between Hong Kong and Maccau is that the Portuguese had a much more constructive view of working with China than the British and as a result the environment was much more pro-Chinese than Hong Kong is even today.

I was in Maccau about 3 months after the handover (I believe late 1996).  A very strange place - it is very close to the discriptions that I have heard of old-west towns, but with an Asian flair.  The chinese gangs have free run, gambling and prostitution are legal and in fact encouraged as it draws tax dollars and an inflow of foreign spending.

The discos and gabling halls were on the lower floors, the brothels were on the upper floors (as I was told as I certainly do not have experience there).  My hosts (expats working in Hong Kong) said that the girls would get off their shifts upstairs and come down to the dance clubs.  We were instructed that we should not look at or acknowledge any of the girls in the club - while their "boyfriends" (the local Triad members) don't seem to have issues with their occupation they take it very poorly if anyone even a looks at the on the girls on the dance floor.

Despite the Death Penatly for drug offences there was open sale of Extacy throughout the club.  Bottled water (to counter the dehydration of the Extacy) cost about 5x as much as beer did at the bar (I think that a bottled water was the equivalent to $9.00).

It was very interesting to see how such a different culture works...

The highlight was the Hydrofoil ride over and Lunch.  I would have been just as happy if we had left that afternoon rather than staying the night.
