ROC question -- why now?

Now that ROC is done, I have a question....

How can we have ROC before each of the regions are even done? Pacific and SW, for example, still have a round each left next month.

Just curious how they gridded guys from over here when gridding was by regional champions.

Also kinda strange to have national champs without having all the regions decided.

Just curious.

The regions you mention are in warm climates, so CCS can continue to suck your money.  It's all about the money, dude.  Repeat after me.  It's all about the money....

Florida is in the same situation. I wondered the same thing myself.

If you guys havent figured out yet
CCS bends the rules to fit their needs.

Sheesh......

What a bunch of cry babies.  CCS is only out for the money, waaahhhh waaaahhh waaahhh.  Well duh!  They're a business!

In the northern states, our racing season ends the beginning of October, then it's the ROC.  Makes perfect sense to me.  Everyone's on top of thier game and people are still going to travel because the threat of severe weather is not that great like it would be in December, January or February.  Plus, we have to winterize our bikes up here.  Tell me, how many of you would want to run at the ROC when you haven't been on a bike in over two months.

If you southern boys don't like the extended racing season CCS offers, let them know.

I'm not whining...just asking honest questions. I understand how it works out for guys over there, but it doesn't work out at all for guys over here. Would be nice to see a West Coast (or even central) ROC one year soon.

Still haven't answered my question about how guys from the left coast were gridded when the seasons not even over. I did notice that not very many left coast guys showed up. Maybe that's why? Or, maybe a Central US location would help cut down travel expenses for everyone?

Gridding is NOT by regional champions, it's by your standing in the points, in each class, as of a certain date (which was previously announced). Any position change in the points after that date does not affect your grid position at the ROC. All the people from every region in a particular class were gridded by their position in the points, not the point totals themselves. There was no advantage by any region over another as far as gridding was concerned, if you were winning a class in your region as of the cut-off date then you were gridded with all the other people who were winning that same class thru-out all the other CCS regions. :)

There is a cutoff date sometime in September for counting points, and that is how the ROC is gridded.  Quite probably, the regional championships have not been decide at that point, so everybody breaks out their pencils and figures out which of the two or three regions they're competing in has them highest in points, and claims that as their home region for an ROC grid position.

If I was a poor Florida or California guy, (Instead of a poor Illinois guy)  I'd be really pissed that CCS was still running events that counted toward the regional championships AFTER the ROC.  I mean, how much can a guy spend, anyway?  On the other hand, if I was rich, I'd be trucking my butt out to Cali or FLA just to get a few more rides in.  I guess your view depends greatly on your checkbook balance.... :-/
