I was hoping against hope, thinking that the new Shenandoah circuit would be finished and all of those concrete barriers were part of the construction project...

But as I walked the track this morning I couldn't believe my eyes.  All of the barriers are still up, with maybe two rows of tire walls in between them and the racing surface.  There is little or NO runoff in a majority of the corners... e.g. after a super long straight (easily sixth gear tapped out) there is a tight left hander that maybe has 10-20ft of runoff (generous assumption) before tires and concrete.  After that turn there is another quick section with a tight left-right.  Here you have only five feet before you are into tires and concrete in the left hander.  Then if you miss the right hander you are in the dirt and going right into the long straight mentioned above.  Great place to get ran over at a buck fitty.

I don't see how this track will ever get safety approval for motorcycles.  This track was definitely built for cars.  If it does get safety approved for motorcycles then whoever made the decision should be shot.

People will get seriously hurt or worse on this track.  I hope our sanctioning bodies (CCS, WERA) will do the right thing and just say no to running there, safety approval or not.

Not in my region, but sad to hear, anyway.  Sounds like the perfect place for a double points, 3-region, CCS/FUSA race on the final weekend for points to count towards a runoff grid spot... :o :P
