how are you feeling today? I know you must be a little sore. You gave all of us a good scare.

For those of you who don't know Don highsided in T5 at BFR on Sunday. His rear stepped out shortly after the access road  he flew 10-15 feet in the air and landed in the air fence. He had the wind knocked out of him and arose to a round of applause.

Then there was the dude who lost the rear in T4 on lap 1 (not sure what race, but was on Sunday) and lowsided.  His bike went OVER the wall in spectacular style and hung at 12-O-Clock on the side of the wall (outside of the track!).

He got up to a standing ovation!

Don't forget that guy rode that Suzuki back to the pits. It looked like only the windscreen was broken. I'm sure there had to be more damage.

who was the photographer standing by the wall there? that bike almost landed on him.

Or Johnson's 1000 foot slide from the start finish line out into the weeds beyond Turn One!  GAAAAAA!!!
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

What a weekend!  I'm sore and a bit bruised but not bad at all.  My wife can't understand why I'm not upset.  I'll tell you why. Airfence!   ;D
I had a bit of time to think while I was airborne. First thought...this is a real highside.  Second thought...Yep, I'm upside down, there's the grass.  Third thought...I'm going to hit something soon and it's not going to be good.
When I heard the thwack of the airfence I was sooo relieved!
Thanks to Tom Short for pushing my bike back to the pits and to the Buxton's for helping me sort things out.
Special thanks to the corner workers.  First words out of his mouth after he saw I was okay..."So how do you like that airfence now??!!   ;D

The last BHF (7/31-8/1) event I was working in T4 on 8/1 and seen the airfence 'used' for my first time. Guy went back first into it and when I ran behind, he was 'sitting' in teh airfence like he was on a laz-e-boy recliner. Said basically the same thing to him after we got his bike put in a safe place and him over teh wall "so what do ya think of the airfence?". Also seen 2 bikes go over the wall that day also. One on top of the tires and another COMPLETELY over the tires and concrete wall.

Diesel, I dont know who the photographer was, but I do know Jack wouldnt stand there. Every time I've seen Jack take pics in 4 he does it from teh spectator side of the Turn 4 fence. Personally if I was working turn 4 sunday, I would had told him to either get over to the corner station or get behind the spectator fence. With bikes going as fast as they are now and are hopping OVER the tirewall, NO ONE other than a racer and/or cornerworker should be wetween teh spectator fence and tirewall.

Hey Don,

I heard that you were fully airborne all the way to the airfence, never touching the ground! Wow! That IS a real highside!

Don't give up on your dreams! If an illiterate like K3 can write a book, imagine what you can do!

The Photographer that was in turn 4 Sat and SUn is a personal friend of mine.
When he got to the track Sat. I took him to speak with Bill, then to the corner works in turn 4.
On Sat. he was standing within 5 feet of where a cornerwork was standing.
As for as Sunday goes, I was not at the track...
So I don't know if he moved where he was standing or not. I do know he spoke in length to the cornerworks on Sat. about what was safe or not.

When I spoke with him today, he told me the bike landed 6 feet from him.
Though I was not there, I know I did my best to guide him to safe shooting

Yes he was there on Sunday. What we need to know is if he has a web sight or someway to get ahold of him and "peruse" his photos for possible purchase.

He is an Am Photographer.
That was his first weekend trying to take pics.

He has a few pics from Saturday posted and I know he took 525 pics Sunday... including the T4 crash (he said they didn't turn out well).
I will post a link up here if he doesn't mind.

He only has 9 pics up now...
But he is working all the rest of them.
So more to come, shortly I hope.
