OK, I said I would have some answers and I have SOME answers.

Camping at the track- Do not plan on it.  When we call the track as CCS- they always say no, yet when we are there on Saturday the let it happen sometimes.  Call the track and get their word from them and make reservations accordingly- Make them early too- Neckcar will be racing the Speedway next week and the rednecks like to get there early.

Registration on Thursday- Not for CCS and most likely not for anyone.  Sometimes Thursday registration is for FUSA team owners etc- If this is you contact the home office to find out.

Race direction-  It seems like we may be running the old classic course that we have always run.  WERA is running the top end at their next event.  The same course they used last time that everyone said sucked and was dangerous- if you go to that have fun and bring spares!  The way we ran it last time with the new section to the south was good but there are some safety concerns that cannot be resolved for motorcycles in that configuration.  Unless the track does some serious rework between now and then- plan on the old clockwise configuration.

Riders Liscensing Clinic- On speaking with the Instructor, John Jewitt- He has been informed from the home office that there will be no clinic that weekend.  Looking at the schedule there would be no time.  John asks me to have everyone pass the word to people who were planning on going- If you know someone tell them please.

To those who have never been to Vegas before for racing- bring sunscreen, shorts, jackets, gloves, raincoats/umbrellas and lots of patience.  The weather there is wonky and with the heavy schedule- things are going to move quickly.

More info as I get it and if any questions- email me at cstem@cox.net or phone 623-521-2461 and I will try to get it answered.  Cory

In addition to Cory's post:

We have asked the track to allow camping, they will get back to us this week.

We will be doing Team Owner Registration (FUSA) on Thursday evening and pre-registered riders for sure. Depending on staffing, we will probably do an hour or so of post-registration also. (Expect roughly 5-7pm for all registration on Thursday night.)

Thanks again Cory.

Just got word that the track will be run in the clockwise direction on the classic course.  This will be the way we have run in years past without the new sections added in.

Also, Southwest Region Race Director Randy Stem reminded me to add that there is no electricity available for racers or campers (if we can camp!) so bring generators.  Also try to bring quiet generators or at least a blind so you don't tick off your neighbors.  Usually we pack it in tight in the paddock and depending on the PA provided by the track, which no one from CCS has had the opportunity to use, it may be difficult to hear over the sound of obnoxious generators.

Randy also asked me to remind you to bring sunscreen and lots of water.  It is dry and usually hot in Vegas and shade is what you bring and water at the track is usually in short supply.  There is a conveinience store/truck stop within a mile of the track.  They have food in the restaurant, water, CB radios (and deodorant which apparently some of the truckers have not noticed) and pump gas.  If you cannot camp at the track you may be able to park and sleep in your RV at the truck stop too, dependiong on space available (meaning have a back up plan).  More to come as I get it.  If you are a cyclist and show up early on Thursday, I will be joining a local racer for a ride, contact me if you are interested.

More news for travelers to Vegas near and far.  Try this link for freeway and highway traffic in Arizona.  I was going to work on other states but decided that would take me forever.  Here it is

This is a great page and very informative.  Also, if you plan on crossing the Hoover dam between AZ and Nevada, stop in and check it out- very cool- but call first if you have a enclosed trailer or box van.  There are restrictions requiring a detour around the dam due to terrorist concerns.  It is not a bad detour, and you may not require it call 1-888-248-1259.  Tell them Cory said to call and they will care less!

If you  are looking for a room in Vegas- you should have started weeks ago- but if you have not- start now!  go to www.lasvegas.com to start out.

Ok, so it's not just me that doesn't get call backs?

A fax back would be fine, but a message would be fine...

It doesn't happen.  Get used to it.  Someone tell me otherwise.
