I am going to buy my first set of leather's and I want something with good protection at an affordable price.  I hear that Dainese is real good but i've looked at there prices and they are extremely expensive.  I got a price of $750 for a Joe Rocket Speedmaster one-piece suit.  Is this a good suit?  and is that a good price?  Also, what other suits would you recommend?

Thanks again for everyones help in getting me started in racing!

Vanson  is what Spyderchick recommended to me when I asked the same question...and she repairs leathers!

If you're willing to spend $750, go the extra $50 and get yourself a Syed custom suit (www.syedleather.com)

Better fit and quality than "off-the-rack".

Alexa... wanna chime in here?
CCS AM 815... or was that 158?

How much do you want to spend?  What colors?  I may be able to hook you up pretty cheap as a favor to a "newbie."

Well, I do not want to spend to much but I do want a good quality leather suit (just in case).  Everything is so expensive so far, as everyone has told me it would be, so I really don't want to spend to much.  What can you do for me?

GIOVANNI23

I've done some measurements but I don't know how accurate it is.  I think I am a 42us.  I am 5'10" about 155 lbs.

But of course I will chime. ;D

Ding-ding.

Seriously, if you need leathers now and can't wait for customs, or you are lucky enough to be an off the rack size, get the Dianese over the Joe Rocket. (not that the Joe Rocket's are bad, just not as highly engineered) Better yet, if you can wait, get a set of customs, Vanson, Syed, etc.

Also check with Vanson to see if they have something off-the rack that will fit you, or require minimal alteration. I know that at the end of the year, some race schools have their rental Vanson's for sale at reduced prices.

Here's the logic on the "pricey" suits:
You go through how many sets of tires a year? At what cost? $350 per set? You should have a set of leathers (Provided you're not crash happy) for at least 3 years. The cost of a $1200 set of leathers spread over 3 years is $400 per year. Pretty cheap for protecting your precious being.

At all costs AVOID TEKNICS. I see more of their suits than any other brand in for unnecessary repairs.

Do or do not, there is no "try".

I know people. I can get Ducati/Dainese suits pretty cheap. I can get Aprilia/Dainese suits pretty cheap, and some Joe Rocket's. It depends on what size, and if your gonna be picky. It really depends on if you care about getting something like a red/black Ducati suit, which is made by Dainese. You can always remove logos and such, or add them. It really depends on what is in stock. I need to know your size first. Then, I'll make a phone call. We'll go from there, but the cost will be between $400.00 and $800.00 for a good suit. Depends what they have in stock and trying to get rid of.

Actually, those Ducati Dianeses are great suits for the price.

Is there a way to see a picture of the Ducati suit?

Since you work with leather suits. Can you explain a method of finding out my size?
