QuoteCamp, something like that would be the LAST thing I would "home-build". Imagine it fails and you get a nice 5 gal bath of race gas? Worst case it ignites.

:o :'(   Well... Ryan, you reading this...any ideas?  That's the last thing we need.

QuoteThanks.  We have to devise something.  We're going to run a 6 hour endurance at Grattan in 2 weeks on the Mille.  There's only one problem.  We'll have to modify the stock gas tank, because the fuel opening on the Mille is tiny.  It's hard to refuel using even a regular VP gas can.  The hole is too small.  So, we're gonna modify the tank, and then buy one of those gas dump cans with a trigger so we can refuel quickly.  We already have a hook up on a bunch of fully assembled wheels, so we'll just throw slicks on them all.  Now we just have to figure out the fuel, and how to make the tire change quick.  Forget that whole quick change set up.  It's alot of money from what I understand, and it ain't worth it.  We firgured it out, and we stand a pretty good realistic chance at the podium if we don't crash out or have any failures.  Our lap times combined will put us in a 1:28's to 1:30's average for 6 hours.  :D  We just have to get everything set up for reliable decent pit stops.  Especially swapping out wheels. We'll have all the parts, just have to find the right people that can swap rims correctly and fairly quick.

Do you really think you have a shot at the podium with no quickfill and no quick change equipment on the bike?

Do you know what class a 1000 cc twin with slicks has to run in?

Do you have any idea what is required to be competitive in a national endurance event?

I didn't think so.

Doesn't really matter.  We'll see what comes out of it. More or less, I'm happy with just the experiance.  I can tell you this much though, my teammate won the last endurance race at Grattan, and runs a hell of a lap time. We'll see.  Couldn't tell you.  This will be my first endurance event.  As far as quick change, and such, we don't need it.  We don't care about contingency or sponsors, ect.  We don't race for money, never would.  My team mate is 3rd in standings right now, but doesn't fill out a single contingency form  ;D

A six hour endurance race is a poor choice of venues to start racing.  There is an awful lot of stuff going on and some RACING experience before undertaking such a big endeavor where you will be on the track with real fast RACERS would be prudent.

It is nothing like a freaking track day.

I've done a couple races.  We're not going out there to play games.  Games are off track, and the minute first call is made, the games are over.  We're coming to race, win or lose, we don't care as long as DNF aren't by our names.  To gain racing experiance, you have to show up to race, and that's exactly what we're doing.  Running with super fast guys will be good for us.  We're not afraid of passing or being passed in close quarters, so all it will do is make us faster.  Real fast racers are good at passing, and we definetly not hold them up. They'll be more than able to pass cleanly and we willl hold our line.  As some famous guy said one time:

"You have no chance to even win a war if you don't show up."

Nuff said.  Good luck to everyone out there, and be safe.  We'll be there running our fastest with safety in mind.  I hope to learn alot from all of you.

You won't be on the podium, so don't worry about that.  28's - 30's might not even get you on the lightweight podium at a 6 hour National; much less if you think you can actually keep that pace for 6 hours.
Eddie Kraft - #48
Witchkraft Racing
Honda East Racing - Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Aprilia

What's the average lap time during a 6 hour then  ???  22's, 24's  ???

ekraft84

The top teams from each class will typically only run 1-2 seconds slower than sprint pace.  I'd just concentrate on finishing the race.

That's the plan.  If we finish a 6 hour, we'll be in good shape.  Are you entering that race Eddie?

Is this a WERA race?  Man, you might be in over your head...  I crewed with Team Vesrah a few years ago, and those endurance racers aren't playing around one bit!
No offense, but maybe the Fastrax enduro at Grattan would be a better choice.  Or you could come down to Hallett.  I'm going there for a 6-hour on the 17th.
I have 6 years racing experience, 8 regional championships and a fifth at Daytona.  When I've been on track with some of those WERA and AMA pros, it's scared the living hell outta me!
E me for Hallett info if you want.

The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

My team mate did the Fasttrax enduro at Grattan last month, and won  :D  I know it'll be rough, but we need the experiance.  Plus, we both know the track very well.   I've CW'd a 3 hour WERA event before, it was pretty neat.  I don't have the time to really travel out of the state, so most of the races out of MI will be a no show for me.   We'll see what happens, but thanks for the advice.

So Dan is FINALLY going to enter a race!  'Bout time. No more BS.  ;D

I bought a quick-dump nozzle (5 gals/30 secs) from LP 3-4 years ago for about $180.  It screws onto regular cans and fits stock gas caps.  Well, at least Hondas and Suzukis.
