I've signed up for the learning Curves school at Roabling on July 24-25th.  how does the hole day work out.  I know there is class time then a few track runs in between ccs races.  But how and when will I get my number for the Sunday race.  I will have my bike all decked out for the Sunday races with yellow back grounds.  Shoul dI just bring a pack of numbers with me to mount Saturday night Sunday morning?  Just a lot of new info. and events will be going on in a short amount of time for me.  Any one else got there license this way?  If so let me know what you thought and what you went through getting ready for Saturday and Sunday.  Any help is greatly appriciated.

1st things 1st - Welcome to the sport, I mean addiction (if you only knew what lies in store for you over the next couple years! Your life will soon uncontrollably revolve around racing. :o)

I imagine that Rick Brewer will be running that school, he's a good guy. Generally the day has typically started out with a track walk 1st thing with the instructors to familiarize you with the track and give you some pointers. You'll have some classroom type instruction during the day mixed with a few track sessions (including a mock race that will have an ambulance come out on the track during your session to show you what that is like). Basically at the end of the day, if you didn't crash, then you can get your license the next day at registration.

The number situation is kinda a bummer since you can't get it till after you get your license. I would just have some black tape or black duct tape with you and an x-acto type knife and cut out some temporary numbers for that day only (this is also how many racers do it when they are required to put an 'X' on their bike because of another competitor at the track having the same number as them, race officials decide who has to put on the 'X', but it's usually the visitor(s) to that region). Numbers are not cheap and it's really a waste to buy all those extra's. Though I would still be prepared to make some temporaries, you may get lucky and find a vendor or racer at the track that would sell you the numbers you need, but it's only for 1 day so I would just make some temp's at the track with black tape and then get the type of stickers you prefer before the next event. Be careful if you use duct tape though, it can sometimes take off or harm fresh paint. :)

     Welcome aboard! :)

I believe Rick has another set of instructors for that region's school. Maybe Brian can chime in later and confirm or deny this.

You can get black adhesive vinyl at an art store to do the number thing. Get a sufficient size stencil kit and you can make numbers with this technique all day long for yourself and all of your friends.

Oh look there's the racing black hole...it sucks up all your money and time.  ;) ;D
Enjoy the ride, much better than an amusement park!

Do or do not, there is no "try".

Chime!

The southeast region is covered by Dave Doe (one of the founders of Learning Curves) and Matt Blashfield.

I did give a reply to your post in the Rules and Regs section. It is pretty much like Mike said, except it is an exhibition race (Rick hates the mock race title).

Stop by the web site (see below) or feel free to email myself or Rick (you can get his email/phone number from the web site).

What happened to the two brothers that were doing the school down there? One had an F3 or something like that they found in a pond as a theft recovery, and the other had some monster single shoved into a TZ250 chassis.

Those two were cool when I was down there to get my race license. Then again Rick was there that weekend too, since he flew down for the school. I think it was one of the first dates in the year so he was down there just to do his once a year visit I think.

Anyway have fun and enjoy your school and as GSXR Racer Mike said welcome to the addiction, now brace yourself and your bank account. LOL

For your #'s call the CCS office and ask what # is not being used.  Being almost halfway throught the season most racers have there #'s and I am sure there will not be a mad dash for # between now and when you take the school.  That way when you apply for your liscense on Sunday or Saturday afternoon you can have you # picked out and already on your bike.   ;)  Hope this helps

You should be able to get your #'s fron the guys in the CTR Susp trailer that provides support @ most of out Mid Atlantic events...They (CTR) sells them for like $1.00 a piece for 6" & $1.50 for 8".

Like the others who chimed in, just check with the front office and they should be able to give you alist of #'s or a link to unclaimed #'s. and WELCOME!!! I look fwd to racing with/ against ya in the future...

Cool thanks for the info guys.  I look forward to racing with you aswell RAD.  You going to be at Roabling?  You on gixxer.com?  I got hooked on the track day events so I thought I would try the racing for a while and see how it goes.  We'll see I'm pretty excited.

Besides the midwest instructors the only other one I know about is Donnie Unger. I am not sure if he is doing any of the Roebling schools. Rick usually tries to get to at least one or two schools on the east coast to keep those guys on their toes.

This was about a year and half ago, so maybe things have changed. But the two brothers were a riot. :D

Hey Jarrod,I just completed the LCR school at VIR this past weekend,Dave Doe was our instructor, very funny guy,he made class interesting & informative .Like everyone has said track walk a 7 am,class room session,go over flags & such, track session(20min) time permitting, another class session, track session,1 more class with test, mock race.I had a great time.On the number & license isue, after you complete your mock race,Time permitting Sat,see a CCS official in registration about buying your license, they"ll have a list of numbers & you can pick yours,go to vendor buy you some numbers & get at it.I believe the price for a license is $75 since its after 7-1.Have fun
