Does yamaha make a kit radiator with larger cooling area for 03 R6? if so whats the part # anyone?

There has been a couple of times after I took the fan off where the water coming to the reservior boiling. I may have let it idle for a couple minutes prior (right after coming off the track), can't remember for sure.

My radiator also is getting destroyed by rocks, pebbles and rubber balls, and last time at summit it got holed. While I temperarily fixed it, I am thinking about getting another one. I seem to remember erading about they making a race one.

TIA

But why does it run so hot?

Yoyodyne carries some kit style radiators. Not sure if they have one for an R6.

If your rad is getting damaged, you may want to make/buy a screen to protect the radiator.

My RC51 ran hot, I added a small auxillary radiator that I got from Whitlock. I added it into the bypass circuit due to its rather small diameter for the water passage. My temps dropped about 20 to 30F. Cost about $80.

I don't know, it hasn't done it alot (well since I have been riding it in somewhat cold weather until now). I just know 3 weeks ago when I put in the trailer after riding, it was boiling in the bottle. Hasn't happened again though. But when I took the radiator off, at least 1/2 of the total area has the fins bent/flattened. So I don't think the radiator is working at more than 60% efficiency.

I fixed the hole and most of the fins before yesterday, and it only got up to about 200F when I came off. Granted it shouldn't even reach that high... but I have no idea???

What are you using to add more fuel to the FI?

powercommander. the onlything from stock is a Ti Force full system and a PC

Super Dave

If the PC isn't working right and it's not getting enough fuel...that might be the cause of the heat...

Don't use PC's myself.  Work for some people, but I haven't seen everyone always have the best luck with them.

I use something different.

I am going to get it on the dyno sometime this month to see if its getting enough fuel. It may be running a little lean, but I had tried to richen it. I guess can't really tell without being on a dyno...

what you use? pm me or email if you feel like sharing  ;) I would have used something else if I knew what to use.

Super Dave

I have something that I got from http://4and6.com

Calling them will be easier.  Talk with Jim or Shawn.

I can make changes with a screwdriver.  No lap top required.  Pretty inexpensive, under $200, reliable (that's what I need), and it works really well.

Last year my bike ran hot, and I had stock FI...

At Daytona in Feb...the bike ran awesome (which surprised me that it was so strong with such tall gearing), and it wasn't running hot anymore...we had to put tape on the radiator.

That was nice...
