We're not talking Pro Racing here; this is for you, the club road racer which has always been the intent and purpose for the AMA Sports Road Race Grand Championships (RRGC) and all you need is an AMA membership and a current road racing license.  The 2004 event starts July 20-22 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

It's a mid-week event that is falls perfectly between two weekends chock full of motorcycle activity and fun for virtually everyone ALL at the same facility.  The AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days http://www.amadirectlink.com/vmd/2004/index.asp runs from July 16-18 while the AMA Pro Racing Chevrolet Superbike Series //www.ussuperbike.com kicks off July 23-25.

The RRGC is not just about racing...well most of it is...but with all the activities that take place before/during/after the event, it's like nothing else.  It was restructured in 2003 and supported by WERA which contributed to a 100% growth from previous years.

To name just a few 2004 highlights:
•      AMA Sports National Titles up for grabs in 15 Sprint (expert/novice) and 5 Endurance classes
•      2nd Annual Road Race Club Challenge will determine what organization will go home with the bragging rights as the top club in the nation.  AHRMA, CCS, CMRA, CRA, SMRI, WERA and WMRRA were represented in 2003 with WERA National earning the inaugural honor and tied for second CMRA and WMRRA just three points behind.
•      Winner of the 2004 Horizon Award will be announced
•      Participate in after racing activities like last years BBQ for riders and families
•      Track walkin' and hangin' with event honoree David Sadowski
•      Behind the microphone you'll be hearing Brian Drebber and Jeff Wright as your event announcers
•      And who knows what else is in store?  Stay tuned!

Anyone going to this?   I think P3A Racing will be there.

Wohoo! I'll be there as THE photographer for the event. Very cool! I hope to see some familiar faces. Mid Ohio is an excellent place for photos!!! The cover shot for the 2004 calendar was taken there, and it's a great place to get some elbow-down shots.  ;D

Talking about going to try to sell some shirts and raise some more cancer funds...

But need funds to go and all...
