This has probably been gone over a million times, but why does CCS insist on gridding people by order of entry?  I can see it making sense at the first race of the season, but after that shouldn't grids be set by class points?!  It really sucks when you don't have the money to pre-enter the whole seaon like some people and have to start in the second waves when you're fighting for a class championship >:(  Tell me there's a good reason for the way things are done now :-/

They do it tthat way to get more people to pre-enter. It doesn't matter about doing it in a way that makes sense for the racers. Wera grids by points, but offers a $10 discount for pre-entry.

Gridded by points...   ;D  Maybe then I would know where I was in the points   ???

Gridding by points helps but if you get a guy who goes to every race and just finishes he will still be up there on the 1st or 2nd row. What would be great is what they do for our Unlimted GP. Instead of having that just for ULGP have a session on Saturday for Lightweight, Middleweight, Heavyweight, and Unlimited qualifying. The only problem with that is it sucks for the people who can't make it out there on Saturday.

The reason for the grid system I would think is to make it easier to grid with the current computer programs we have now and (as stated earlier) to encourage pre-entry.  Pre- entry is good for a few reasons.  It allows for shorter lines at registration (less time to enter),and frees up staff and even allows for less staff to be required (saves money).

As far as not having the money to pre-enter, I havea suggestion.  Since you apparently have money on race day, two months prior to the first race save the money.  Enter one month prior then save for the next race immediately.  Besides, starting from the third row is more challengeing.

As far as qualifying, I really love it fo r UNGP, it adds a little more excitement to it for me anyway as an announcer.  I wish we had the time to do it for all the other classes but at 20 minutes per class, it just is not possible.
