by the way, you guys ARE nuts... you come to the races just to race each others  ;D I didn't get to see my teammate once in the races.

Hey R6, I'm an old slow guy so you don't really need my advice but I'm giving it anyway.
Be gentle with yourself. It WILL be back. When it's back, you'll know it. Had a minor get off to begin 03 and almost gave it up, I had no confidence, not in myself, my equipment, or fellow riders. Went out and my laptimes just sucked and only raced 1/2 the year. Went to a track day this April and whatever was in my brain screwing with me is gone. I'm glad I didn't bail. It will be back. The more you worry about it the worse it is. Just go like it was the first track day you ever rode and you are there to have fun. Turn the timer off and enjoy that you're able to be on track at all and don't race anybody. In practice find empty space to fool around with corners you know you're not hitting. Have fun instead of trying to beat you times.  More than likely, you'll do what you do best and the times will be slip back in automaticly. Best of luck

And this is where my work begins...

These are the kind of racer problems that I work with in my school programs...Visionsports' Racer University and my one on one stuff.  There are ways around it, things to do, things to look for.

Doug you are a wise man indeed!  How's the motor coming along?

last year after my get off that cost me 3/4 of the season i got back and couldn't even roll on the throttle because my wrist was so screwed up, could do anything cause my ankles had no mobility, but Scott Greenwood worked with me one day in practice and the best advice he gave me is this.....
You will crash, the best thing you can do is analyze why, have confidence in your equipment put it back the correct way, know what you are working with.  As long as you know your equipment is good everything else will come to you.  I had asked him what does he do to deal with mental block, and he replied that when he crashes he writes off his losses and goes right back out knowing that his equipment is in top shape and there is no reason why he can't go out and do the same he did preaviously....

Sort of not related but, I was involved in a bad street accident on the bike last year (tractor trailer swerved into the front of my bike, taking me out). I was flown to shock trauma with a broken collarbone, shoulderblade, 3 ribs, collapsed lung and a severely twisted ankle. I don't remember much about the accident itself..and am still physically recovering from the accident (May 19th of 03)
I've been riding again both on the street and on the track but I'm still way f-ed up in the head..whenever I hear something (bike/car) near me I tense up for a moment and the heart starts pounding. I'm back to commuting daily on the bike, but I know on the track I'm going to be pretty slow- and won't be able to get track time in.
I need to get up my confidence again- if anyone else has more tips please let me know!

Hey Bernie, sorry I didn't get to say goodbye the other day. Took the motor to HD of Baltimore and they straightend the rod. He said he thinks it came apart because of valve overlap. so with my new super duper SV eatin' heads I'm not going to chance it, Im going to let him put it together.  Hope your hand is feeling better, that looked like it really stung.

Bernie

Cool deal, we'll see you over the FUSA weekend then?  Thanks again for the band-aids.  I got some x-rays to make sure everything is kosher, and I'm good to go.

Street ridin' is just plain dangerous.  Too many morons.  I don't mind an occasional ride...

But my friends that like to sport ride seem to like to talk about my crashes, which happen, but I walk away...even after all these years of racing...endurance racing, AMA Pro, vintage...yet, I'm not the one with fused wrists and a zipper knee.

Be nice!   :-[
