Lost my mom almost nine years ago.  It blows that she never made it to my wedding to my wife and then to see our two boys.  She's with us, I know, but there's so much I'd like to share in person.

My oldest and best friend is in Iraq right now.  I can hardly look atthe morning paper.
  Stupid as this sounds, I wish I was there with him, just to cover his back.  Phil is the guy who's always been the caregiver to everyone else.  He has a bit of rank.  If something happens to one of his men, I know who will be first over the wall to help.  I'm so worried that he'll be killed, or mentally or physically damaged while he's there.  Me the big writer, and I can't even send the guy an e-mail.  I just don't know what to say.  Besides, the military censors yank all the negative stuff, so what I've already written here probably wouldn't make it through.  Yesterday I read Doonsberry in the funny pages.  They're in Iraq, and one of the main characters got shot and medivacced.  Stupid, three-panel comic strip made me cry!  I'm so scared for Phil.
I don't know how in God's name you've managed to deal with your loss.  I'm losing my f**king mind just dealing with the worry!

6 months is not very long. I watched (yes, literally watched it happen) my father die 25 years ago (I was 16 at the time). It gets worse before it gets better. After a while instead of making you cry, your memories will put a smile on your face.

It's kind of silly, but I still haven't deleted Bryan's e-mail address out of my address book.  Don't know why; just doesn't seem right somehow.  We're with you, Laura.   :(

Chris, just tell him you love him, miss him and BELIEVE in him!  Do it while you can, don't wait.  Trust me, the price is too high.  Your words don't have to be "poetic" they just have to be from you.  You never know, you may just brighten his God Awful Day.  Thank you for sharing with me and all who read this.  You too are a good man!

Thank you to all of you who have supported my family and who have loved my brother.  He obviously loved all of you - that you can tell by all of his posts.  I still go back and read them, it makes me feel a little like he is still here. GOD I MISS HIM.

Feel better now, I just needed a little love and you all gave it.  Thank You, Truly, Thank you.
